2023 Suzuki Grand Vitara Hybrid debuts in SE Asia | Autoindustriya

Powering all variants of the Grand Vitara is a 1.5-liter K15C four-cylinder engine that's helped along by an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a lithium-ion battery pack. Dubbed Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS), it's essentially the same powertrain that can be found in the Ertiga Hybrid that we currently get.

The powertrain makes 103 PS at 6000 rpm along with 137 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm. Instead of a 4-speed automatic like the Ertiga, the Grand Vitara is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission complete with a manual mode and paddle shifters.

IMO, reasonable pa din at 1.3M range since exempted ito sa coding.

Parang ang hina for a 1.5L NA engine. 103hp/137Nm is better for a small car like the Swift or even smaller.

103hp is not a lot since grand vitara pa ito. i expected din better engine output. kun avaza expander competitor par for the course lang.

Why Suzuki always focusing on weak output engines? Meanwhile some Chinese makes they already done turbocharging 1.5L four or three cylinder motors.

this is basically the Urban Cruiser in India... Toyota is focusing more on reliability in the long term. less components, less parts, easier to maintain.

But if you look at the best selling cars of 2022, the Rush and the Xpander (both powered by a Naturally Aspirated 1.5 engine) made it to the list. No Honda and no turbo-petrol 1.5L engine. So I guess the guys from Suzuki knows what they're doing.

also i seldom hear bad reviews sa suzuki engines apart from them being underpowered compared to the competition. So i guess they really are after reliability.

I always joke with Honda SAs that it seems like AC no longer wants to train their technicians as they have been using the L-series on almost all current models.

Even the turbo Hondas use the L15 platform. The 1.5L turbo engine is used in the Civic, HRV, Accord, and CRV.
