Power Steering Problem

I hope I can get advice concerning the power steering problem of my 96 Pajero Intrcooler, I guess you call it 2nd Gen? I bought it sa auction kasi, any suggestions?

Anyway, Problem is when driving medyo malambot yun power steering, pero when you park it especially parallel parking. Matigas masyado yun steering to the right. And parang wala nang power steering at all. Sobra tigas. Pro while driving no problemo naman. Compared to other pajeros my friends have mas mabigat yun sa akin.

Mechanics tell me na malapad daw yun gulong at 265/15. And they advise tooverhaul power steering.

Another told me to change the pump of the power steering.

Another told me to change the power steering gearbox para di na raw converted.

Any comments and advice?

For sure hindi dahil sa gulong iyan. My classmate's GEN II wears larger 32X12.5R15 Dunlop Grandtrek M/T's pero walang problema sa steering.

Kapag turning right lang siya mabigat?

When parking mas mabigat ng konti ang right compared to left.

Sa sobra bigat niya halos di kaya. Pero kung normal drive malambot naman pero compared to other 2nd gen's mas mabigat sya.

Bleed. Then if problem still exist, check the conversion. Baka may sabit yan.

Dinala ko na siya sa servitek, zafra, etc.

Pero wala naman sila sinabi. From the looks of it, di pa yata nila alam na converted pala.

First and foremost avoid Zafra. Daming bad experiences ng mga tao dito regarding them and their various branches.

As per instruction of our power steering god afrasay, have it bled by a competent shop. Baka nga naman may hangin lang sa loob ng system mo.

Tama kanga regarding zafra. 3 Branches tinanungan ko, all 3 differennt diagnosis and different opions. Labo nga sobra.

lancelot::: Did you happen to check on the power steering hose kung may leak? Do you always refill the power steering oil? You might also want to check baka po tukod na yung steering limit? (usually hex bolt po ito pwedeng i-adjust) :idea:

As to what sir afrasay pointed, baka nga may kabag yung mechanism.

Yung cousin ni PSG afrasay mechanic ata. Baka matulungan ka niya. Sugurin mo na lang sa office si afrasay tapos ipagawa mo sa kanya. :mrgreen:

actually problema ng galant ko rin yan TS. Although hindi naman sobrang bigat, parang in between ng manual steering ng owner jeep namin and my other car (rav4). I remember driving our sentra old series 3 and singkit glxi, parang anlayo ng lambot nya sa galant ko.

Right now I'm getting my rack and pinion fixed dahil may tagas. Although hindi ako sure if this will help the steering to be soft and easy again.

power stering problem altis 2008 ..since nung bagong bili sya makunat steering nya malambot pa yung lancer na hotdog..dka mka mani-obra ng isang kamay..ganito ba kahina talaga PS ng corolla? wala namang strange sound pag kaliwat kanan mo..no leaks, walang maluwag na bolt/hose..ecvrything is clean..test drive a ford focus lately tang ina ang lambot and direct ang response! kung may pera lang ako pamimigay ko na tong altis ko eh..
PS: pati clutch ang kunat apapkan..wala ring tagas seal sa master and slave cylinder ..binuksan and nilinis ko super smooth ang wall..no sign of scratch or what so ever..nasa clearance lahat..

clarification: you bought the car brand new back in 2008, and its wheel and pedal were already that difficult to operate even then?
or, this car is a recent acquisition, pre-owned..?
if the latter, i would have the transmission checked. the manibela naman,,.. dunno. no experience there.

hijacking this tread if you all dont mind...having almost the same problem with my corolla BB gli...its been a week already...the steering is so heavy kapag nakahinto pero super lambot naman kapag tumatakbo...theres a humming sound even when im not doing anything sa steering wheel.maynakikita akong tagas sa hose na nakaconnect mismo s rack napaayos ko na ito dati pero bumalik ulit.replacement na yung rack and pinion ko.pinacheck ko sa mechanic kung ano problema ang sabi eh palitin na raw yung rack and pinion ko.i was thinking pano nangyari un e 3 yrs pa lang yung rack.i had second thoughts so ipinacheck ko sa ibang mechanic ang sabi eh yung steering pump ko ang sira..so which is which ??alin ba sa 2 yung possible na sira kasi ayoko basta iapagawa tapos di naman pala yun yung sira madodoble lang yung gastos ko.need your expert advice on the matter bago ko ipagawa..
btw paano ko ba malalaman kung sira yung rack and pinion ko?dkc binigyan ng malinaw na explanation nung mechanic kung paano nya nasabi yun yung sira..even nung pinalitan yung previous rack ko eh di rin malinaw yung reason...si erpats ang nagpagawa previously since nasa labas ako ng pinas nungtime n supposedly nasira yung former rack ng auto ko.

any recommended shops in the south for power steering problem? las pinas area sana. nagleleak yung ps fluid. pinalitan na ng oil seal before kaso bumalik yung problem. baka kelangan palitan na lahat. kung me kilala din kayo na homeservice. and sana idea kung magkano estimate na total gastos ko for repair. thanks.

My mechanic's address is 3516 J. Lukban St. Bo. Obrero, Manila. He's name is Ferdie. May nakita ako sa 4x4 magazine, they call it RAM system. Pinapalitan nila yun gear box and pump together with they tear drop fluid container. They say you can still turn tires in places (ea. between boulders), that your usual system can't.

UNGAS: I had the hoses checked wala naman leaks. Malinis. Tingin ko nga tama si afrasay sa convertion malamang.

Many were suggesting since it is converted palitan ko raw yun gearbox if bleeding fails. Nagtry nga ako maghanap sa atco lang meron.

So do you suggest,ipa overhaul ko muna the whole power steering? Meaning ibleed then ibaba para malinis?
