Let me share my experience mga tol , last year JULY 2015 I decided to buy new front shocks for my corolla.. Everybody knows KYB SHOCKS thats why i searched OLX para maka canvass. Anyway to cut it short i saw the add of L.V.C AUTOMOTIVE PARTS AND SUPPLY, located in banawe near amorato avenue extension. Ang mura ng KYB shocks nila plus 500 installation fee . ang bili ko nasa 2000 plus and isa excel KYB GAS TYPE. Last sunday i went to SHELL to have my oil changed. Nung inangat na yung kabayo ko, ayun kita nila yung driver side shock ko may oil leak na, now my question is , talagang malas lang ba ako or fake ang KYB na tinda nila.. Im planning to contact KYB PHIL., DTI and NBI to have thier store checked kasi andami ng pirated o peke na auto parts, delikado kung vital part ng kotse ang mapeke diba dahil buhay ang nakasalalay dyan. I think someone should put a stop on this

KYB (Japan) is the OEM of most car brands, even my Korean hatch. It is also the most popular replacement shocks available because of it's quality & price as compared to Bilstein or Monroe. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most copied. My rule of thumb is that if the price is too good to be true, then it must be a fake. I also look at the packaging material. Most fakes have poor packaging.

I don't see any problem in as far as packaging is concerned. Kasi you can check naman if the part is still new the only thing is that if the part is a counterfeit then it will not last longer as you expected it to be. Here in the States if you go to any auto parts store it's kanna expensive than buying the parts online which is free shipping as well. Bale half of the price ang difference but both parts are new yon lang different brand ito.

I saw the add also in OLX i was like also tempt to buy kasi last time nag punta ako banawe ang presyuhan ng kyb is 2.5k so nag tataka ako baket ganun while in LVC is 1,150 lang un pala possibility is counterfeit buti nag basa ako.

any ideas how to know if the kyb is real or counterfeit
