Subaru BRZ Concept Car | LA Auto Show Grand Unveiling
Letting Ideas Lead the Way with the Subaru BRZ Concept-STI-

Grand Unveiling at the Los Angeles Auto Show

The Subaru BRZ Concept – STI is a study of the sports car distilled to its essence, and it's unveiling in a sneak preview event, November 16 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Subaru BRZ Concept – STI sports a lightweight design with nimble performance. One of the newest features is the 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine that sits lower and farther back in the engine well, enhancing the torque and handling while offering greater fuel efficiency and power. It's light, agile and totally dialed in to the driver.

See it at the LA Auto Show from November 18-25, 2011. After that, the 2013 BRZ will make its international appearance on November 30 in Tokyo, while the U.S. production model will be unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

    Subaru - Confidence in Motion
    BRZ Concept

Sometimes the biggest ideas are really the simplest. Reduce size, cut weight, better the balance, and you'll dial up the thrill with agility and quickness. The SUBARU BRZ CONCEPT‐STI‐ is a promise of what driving could be and an exploration of how a driver's car should be made. Dialed all the way up.

    Lightweight Design

You can see in its tight dimensions and weight-saving carbon fibre used in the roof panel, front spoiler and rear wing, the SUBARU BRZ CONCEPT‐STI‐ announces a commitment to losing weight to quicken performance and lessen our impact. From concept to reality, excess is avoided, and only that which enhances the drive will be added.

    New Boxer Engine

A new vision reveals a new engine. The 2.0-litre SUBARU BOXER engine was overhauled right down to its basic structure and retuned with advanced D-4S injection to enhance its natural smoothness and torque. Both direct and indirect injection on each cylinder optimises the air and fuel mixture, for greater fuel efficiency and power.

    Low Centre of Gravity

The pistons in the SUBARU BOXER engine are laid out horizontally, so the engine lays flatter. Then we mounted it much lower to the ground and moved it closer to the driver. It promises a closer connection between driver and car, steering and response, hands and heart.

REAR-WHEEL DRIVE (yes, tama iyang nababasa niyo!) *_____*

Unexpected, but not unprecedented, the SUBARU BRZ CONCEPT‐STI‐ gives shape to a new front-engine, rear-wheel-
drive platform. A configuration simply unmatched at delivering a dynamic handling character, for a car that will be devoted to
    delighting the driver.

too bad wala pa ko decent pic ng front and rear view pero from the looks of those pics, i think you can already imagine it na agad hehe!

Throw a turbocharged 2.5L and it will become a nice opponent for the Nissan 370Z....

The ad and PR for Toyota 86 came out in Manila Bulletin last Jun 21:

    http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/362952...ousing-welcome
Highlights of the article; key points in bold fonts:
Or if you make up your mind fast enough, you just might be one of the 77 who will own an 86 by the end of this year, for that is the number of units allotted to TMP for this year, said Yuji Goto, EVP of Marketing. He, too, had owned an AE86 before and hopes to own an 86 – “But the customer first,” he said, referring to the very limited number of 86 that will be available in the Philippine market.

Mr. Goto said they can sell 20 to 30 units a month but the supply is so limited. Around the world, there is a long waiting line for the 86.

In the Philippine market, the 86 comes in three variants – the Manual Transmission priced at P1,550,000, Automatic Transmission priced at P1,650,000 and a sportier Aero variant is also available which features a wrap-around body kit and a rear spoiler priced at P1,875,000.

A White Pearl color option is also available on all variants for an additional P15,000.

The 86 comes in seven stylish colors: Satin White Pearl, Sterling Silver Metallic, Orange Metallic, Lightning Red, Galaxy Blue Silica, Dark Gray Metallic and Crystal Black Silica.
The other article reads like a press kit: Toyota 86: A Legend Surpassed | The Manila Bulletin Newspaper Online

I hope the BRZ will be in the same price range, with more units available when it's launched. Out of curiosity, I dropped by Toyota Alabang to ask about the 86. The SA said that most units have already been lapped up by all the dealers' VIP clients. So I thought buti nga para pag labas ng BRZ, di na nila pansinin. But that's just being optimistic.

Can a BRZ be used as a daily driver or is it a weekend car?

If daily driving means carting around three other people, and the two who sit in the back are not midgets... no.

If it's just you and one other passenger... why not? Small engine, good ride and halfway-decent cargo capacity.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    Hi guys,

Got some Q's in my mind. A comparison between GC 2.0T 8AT and BRZ 6AT.

    1) Which of these 2 will provide better comfort in long dirves?
    2) Which is faster in a drag race?
    3) Which one will provide better FC?
    4) Which one has a better FC in traffic and long drives?
    5) Which one is has more durable engine and transmission ?
    6) Which one has a better engine and transmission technology? German or Japanese?

gc, brz wasn't made to go fast it was made to handle well and show you that you don't need power or xxxhp to have fun with a car.

    brz

    brz

My brother told me that the BRZ has a better ride than GC. He has driven his bestfriend's GC a lot of times. But the GC V6 is more powerful according to him.

Another thing that he noticed on the BRZ is the sharp handling characteristics. Napakaganda ng grip according to him

When buying a car, make sure to factor in the overall customer service experience, which includes the aftersales. So far, from what I've heard, Subaru ang mas ok kesa sa Hyundai.

oh and there's no wait time for the brz and they won't force you to buy all the BS toyota is doing. i got my brz the same day i inquired at MI. may wait time lang sa red mga 1-3 months since they usually don't stock red, sa blue about 2weeks to 1 month since yon ang pinaka ma bentang color nila.
Got our Red BRZ for about a week after MI receive our bank PO. Pero it arrived at MI Greenhills 3 days upon receipt of the PO. For me, the ride is stiff but not that harsh na nakakapagod. And I love how the Boxer engine sounds with that dual exhaust note.

Magaling SA namin, he gave us the rear spoiler for free and instead of free tints na hindi namin kinuha (we had the BRZ tinted with V-Kool at Tint Hub West Avenue), he gave us free 1,600 kms PMS
