Rousey was blindsided imho, she didn't see that kick coming. But, no excuses, Holm won the fight -- he did get Rousey's back after all.

I don't hate her; in fact I really like Ronda and what she has done for the MMA world. The fight analysis in the quote that I posted is really eye-opening about her weaknesses. I do hope she learns from this.

In the aftermath of Ronda Rousey's stunning loss to Holly Holm Saturday in the main event of UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia, there has been much speculation that Rousey wasn't properly prepared for the match.

She certainly didn't perform well. Holm's boxing was dramtically better than Rousey, who was wide open and taking a beating from Holm throughout.

But it seems that at least Rousey had a good idea of what Holm would try to do to her in their bout for the women's bantamweight championship.

During an Oct. 7 appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," Rousey laid out in very accurate fashion exactly what Holm's strategy against her would be.

This is going to be a much longer fight because she's a 19-time world boxing champion with 100 percent takedown defense and head kick knockouts. She's undefeated and an amazing athlete and the biggest threat definitely to me on paper and stylistically. She's the type of fighter you have to be very, very patient with. I feel like she's going to keep distance and keep far away from me and get me frustrated to the point where I make a mistake and she can kick me in the head.
Holm, in fact, kept her distance, frustrated Rousey and then caught her with a devastating kick to the head in the second round that ended the fight.

Rousey clearly had a good handle on how Holm would approach her, and what she needed to do to counteract it.

Where Rousey failed was in her execution. Her defense was atrocious and she kept walking into punches. She had little patience and paid for it by getting knocked out.

She knew, however, what Holm was going to try, based on what she told Fallon five weeks before the fight.
