Lebanon questions eligibility of Gilas' Lutz, Lassiter

UPDATE: SMART-Gilas opens campaign against UAE in FIBA Asia opener [NEWS]
Smart Gilas Pilipinas faces eligibility issues on the eve of its first game in the 2011 FIBA-Asia Championships in Wuhan, China.
Gilas' stalwarts Chris Lutz's and Marcio Lassiter’s eligibility was questioned by Lebanon's Hagop Khajirian, who is also the FIBA-Asia Deputy Secretary-General.
Talk n’ Text head coach Chot Reyes, who is assisting Rajko Toroman in the national team, broke the news through his Twitter accourt (*coachot).
“Foreigner daw sila eh both played na sa FiBA-Asia Champions Cup, Stankovic Cup, SEABA and Asian Games. We have until before the game tomorrow to prove otherwise,” Reyes said in the social media microsite early tonight.
The line-ups were submitted last month and Reyes is lamenting why they are only questioning now. He also added that they are now working on it with the help of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and former FIBA-Asia Secretary-General Moying Martelino.
Reyes, a former national coach, also said that they are elevating the case to FIBA-World's governing body.
Lutz, whose mother Luzviminda is a Filipina while his father Wayne is an American, played for Marshall University.
For his part, Lassiter, who played for Cal State Fullerton, has a Filipina mother Alexandria Eshabarr, whose father traces his roots to Ilocos Sur.
The national team is scheduled to play its first game against the United Arab Emirates tomorrow.

badtrip naman. nasayang yung training nung dalawa. o baka naman may pagkukulang din yung management. dapat inayos na nila lahat ng papers nung mga yun para sa mga pagkakataon na ganito.
