Mukhang nakatulog itong thread na to ah? I'm planning to get myself a road bike and maybe ask some advices from you guys.
Let me try to wake this thread up again.
Here is my Trek 1500 which I bought nearly 1 year ago. Picture was taken last year. Full Shimano 105 and Full Bontrager parts.

oist gising naman kayo mga road bikers! :hi: let's keep the thread going.
i started biking again last month, when i realized that i needed a cardio alternative to running so my knees wouldn't have to take a pounding everyday. after extensive research, i settled on this bike as my steed of choice:
http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes...done/madone45/
i still have the thing on standard pedals because i don't trust myself on clipless pedals just yet. are they difficult to get used to?
the drivers here in florida also have no regard for bikers...they always whiz by you very fast and close with no apparent regard for your safety or for your right to use the road like any other vehicle :seeth: i would carry around a bag of rocks for their windshields, but that would negate the light weight of my bike :bwahaha:
i also really need to work on my stamina. i'm a decent runner (can comfortably run 5k at a good speed), but i can't do more than 15 miles of interval training on a bike (low cadence alternating with sprints) on flat roads without getting gassed. how do you guys train?
hehe i kinda retired my road bike after last year's half ironman, im going back to aggressive riding so im using my mtbike more but i still use my road on the trainer though.
naku! ingat sa clipless sa roadbike, disengaging is much harder compared to a mtbike clipless pedal, i suggest practicing first around your neighborhood or on your trainer, you'll see it's hard to disengage hehe, one time i was following my gf uphill (she was using my mtbike) then she suddenly stopped, didnt had time to disengage the pedal so i fell down sideways still attached to the bikebut once you get used to it, your pedaling will get stronger, you'll be faster on the bike!!
Good choice of roadie there.
There is really no easy way on the clipless pedal. Just practice makes it perfect. I always try not to engage my cleats when I am near stops or busy areas with pedestrians...so far its effecticve.
try visiting our forum pinoyroadies.org. There are a lot of pinoy roadies there from around the globe.![]()
i think i'll hold off on the clipless pedals for now, then. happy naman ako sa standard pedals for now e...and i'm still getting used to the riding dynamics of the bike itself.
DonT, i just noticed na very similar ang bikes natin, hehe...i was all set to go with an aluminum Specialized Allez with 105 components, but my bike shop guy let me test ride the Trek and the rest was historyit may be kind of overkill for a n00b, especially someone who has no intention of racing, but my rationalization was that...at least i'll never have to upgrade the frame, hehe :hihihi:
nah that's ok, most of us started as recreational bikers lang naman, sooner or later you'll try to race, after your first race you'll want to finish better so comes training etc etc etc then you'd be conscious of your equipment, upgrade this and that..in the end the trek is a really good buy, was actually eyeing that frame also but the khs flite 700 was a better value for money, carbon seat and chain stays![]()
miles, thanks for the advice. yeah, i don't think i've ever heard the madone described as "best value for money" :rofl01:
so i guess the best plan is to just ride as much as possible. i'll keep a log of my mileage per run, and the time/speed as well...and just try to keep increasing the distance and average speed every time i go out. dem, now i regret not buying that bike computer![]()
no prob! actually if you shift to roadbike that means you're serious at cycling, most cyclists will call roadbiking an ego sport since it's all about racing
im looking at the argon18 mercury tri/tt frame...hmm...better save money hehe
ohohoy, roadie na pala si empy! first things first, nakabili ka na ba ng spandex mo?hot dang, that's a sweet starter bike. kung cardio ang habol mo, the best way to go is spinning...ilagay mo sa small gears tapos pedal fast.
yep, hehe...and i look dead ***y :rofl01:
i actually refuse to wear it the right way - i still wear running shorts over the spandex. may nagpayo din sa akin na magspinning...i actually can go 25-30 miles now with regularity, so i think i'm making progress
kayo ba, how far yung longest ride nyo? mine is no more than 30 miles...and i still need to canvas what kinds of stuff i have to bring with me on the road besides water, cellphone and money. i am thinking a mini-pump, extra inner tube, maybe a few allen wrenches...
hahaha, pareho pala tayo. i'm still using mountain biking outfits. 25-30 miles is a lot for a beginner so you're way ahead of me. i can only do that much once a week siguro. my longest ride is about 70 miles. there's a 35 mile trail along the american river that is uninterrupted and free of traffic. daily, i do 5-10 miles lang, and i try to vary my regiments; spinning, sprinting, hills, etc. if you bike that far, it is recommended that you carry the stuff you've mentioned...all can be fitted in an under saddle mini-pack.

Question.
I want a ROAD bike for daily travel lang (not in pinas btw), budget siguro under 12-18K...
No suspension, kahit konting gears lang (mostly flat pavement) naman... Can anyone give any combination of parts or whole bike suggestions so I can try to find one here in Singapore?
Daily route is less than 15min ride actually.
I just want:
1) relatively easy to pedal and get up to speed.
2) doesn't just rust or break if used in the rain often
3) not too pricey, as mentioned above.
Just want to reiterate, it's not for any "sporty" purpose, literally for daily transport lang.
Thanks thanks!
'veed, brand new ba? kung sakaling ok sa 'yo ang 2nd hand, try mo tingin sa Cash Converter kung may malapit sa lugar mo. Suggestion lang. hth.
Di naman pre, but daming laspag at sira din kasi sa used market kung di mo kinuha from biker talaga, unless super duper mura sa CC baka mapagastos pa sa pyesa down the road... yung worry ko.
saw this sa ebay singapore ok na sakin to, mahal ba for what it is?
KRING KRING!!! :D
Sige I'll give CC a check, sayang naman if may good deal.![]()
