Saka Pacman is not a no-name boxer anymore when Shelly Finkel took over management of Team Pacquiao.

Pacquiao To Promote His Own Fights

    By Salven L. Lagumbay
    Inquirer

Reports coming out of Team Pacquiao indicate that the national icon plans to promote his own fight in May, as well as the September rubber-match planned against Erik “El Terrible” Morales.

Should Pacquiao start promoting his own bouts, he would join the likes of Oscar De la Hoya, Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins who promote their own fights based on the merits of their crossover appeal.

Should a May fight happen here, Pacquiao has reportedly been assured of the financial backing by corporate giant San Miguel Corp., whose products Pacquiao will be endorsing.

San Miguel, through its chair Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco, dangled a hefty package for Pacquiao, including a virtual ‘golden parachute’ that would take care of the boxing hero long after his retirement from boxing.

“The deal includes a P2.5 million annual package for Pacquiao for the next ten years after he retires from boxing,” Rex “Wakee” Salud, Pacquiao’s close friend, told this writer.

^i don't think that Manny has the name (outside the fil-am community) in the states yet to do his own promoting. kung sa pilipinas pa sigurado yan.

but that San Mig deal is a stroke of genius. the man is obviously looking out for his future (or someone's doing it for him)

You should scan the boxing community online boards so you'll know how popular Pacman is by now.

But promotion is a totally different business that i don't think Manny has the skills or know how of how to do it right... Imagine having to promote yourself and box as well, distraction yan...

Speaking of promotions, it is reported na same level na ang asking rate ni pacman compared to the top celebrities like Aga, Sharon etc...
