he was effective in the nba because the indiana pacers slowed the game down almost to a grind. they were never a running team when larry brown and larry bird ran the show in indiana during his tenure.

the pacers were one of the 1st teams to spread out the floor in the nba via the long kick out passes for those perimeter shots and treys by the 3 guard-forward rotation excluding reggie miller and cris mullin. that gave smits the room to operate down low because of the excellent spacing around the key hole. not to mention , through the years he was helped in the paint by the athletic davis twins, sam "the big easy" perkins, austin croshere, and the versatile derrick mckey to do the dirty work.

aside from the fact that smits came into our basketball consciousness as a polished 22 year old nba rookie w/ a mature physique, rik spent 4 years as an accomplished player in the collegiate ranks. he was highly decorated as a varsity player in a shallow pool of draft hopefuls back in '88.

my point is, if kai is lucky enough to have a patient coach who will accommodate his skill sets, we may be in for a show. especially ngayon na maluwag sa ilalim dahil sa halos puro tres ang tinitira ng mga players ngayon.

Saka claasic big men and galaw post up eh itong mga centers ngayon gusot Kobe ang mga galaw eh.

He's 7'4" din or 7'3"

Both parents are tall

Yes matangkad tatay ni kai pero hinde normal talaga yun height niya for me.

well admittedly hindi talaga graceful si kai. kaya si rik smits ang status na hope ko maabot niya. i mean the dutchman was far from being athletic but he found ways to maximize his shortcomings. and like i said, he was lucky to have been drafted by a team and fortunate enough to have had several coaches who worked w/ what he had.

sa mga nabanggit mo na graceful centers, i think olajuwon was the most smooth among them and shaq was the strongest and probably the most fleet footed of the bunch. but hakeem, shaq, robinson, and tim were actually not legit 7 footers on their bare feet. they were just a shade under 7 feet and that's a telling story about athleticism and height and the inverse proportionality of it.

naalala ko tuloy iyong kwento ni shaq about rik smits, sabi niya he was so heavy and wide bodied , he had a hard time defending him. problema , hindi yata kaya ma-duplicate ni sotto iyang physical dimensions na iyan although he just turned 19 so probably....pero for me delikado din habulin iyong build na ganyan.

in short, i'm just crossing my fingers for this young man. by all accounts, he's a diligent and good kid. i just hope he finds success in his hoops endeavours.

Bugbog sila smits saka yun 2 Davis kay shaq nun. [emoji23]

[emoji23]

****! Giannis mukhang na injured ang knee. Huwag sanang ACL.

Injuries are taking its toll sa mga teams.

Phoenix Suns for the win! Give it up everybody! [emoji3508][emoji41]

And no asterisk or question mark talks sa championship ng suns ko. [emoji471]

    That's basketball for you.

Yup, no asterisks please. Injury is part of sports that is why winning is so difficult. And that makes dynasties even more incredible and admirable.

force of nature talaga si shaq nung prime niya. natyempohan pa na past their physical apex sila smits and davis twins nun kaya talagang tumatalbog left and right
