actually no. It takes a lot to take down a mounted armored knight in stirrups. 70 newtons would hardly knock off the rider and the arrow is harmlessly deflected.
during the battle of Agincourt, Marshal Boucicault led his vanguard cavalry and reached the enemy formation despite being peppered by thousands of arrows and was pretty much unscathed in the battle. In fact, he lived for another 6 years under english custody.
that is a testament to the effectiveness of plate armor.
bodkin tip was designed to penetrate mail armor. not plate armor.Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

September 3rd, 2016 03:49 PM #22Just to add, the Chinese used to have an armor made of paper. They make individual scales out of layered paper, then lacquered them, then sewed them up. Ancient texts would describe Chinese soldiers looking like porcupines with the number of arrows sticking out of them, but they were still OK.
