Same sentiments here. I do hope it's Argentina vs France in the final and I do hope Messi lifts up the trophy. But alas, my gut feel is that France is too good a team and is the team to beat as they are peaking at the right time plus they have Mbappe doing really well too.

My heart says Argentina but my mind tells me this WC is for France to lose specially after Brazil bowed out.

I would love to see the Moroccans beat their former colonizers.

Morocco is very much like our own Azkals: most of the players were born overseas. Many are dual-passport holders but choose to play for Morocco.

Btw, some in the French press are actually calling this match the Second Battle of Tours.

The 2022 World Cup Final will be a fascinating match.

France have 2 ways to score a goal:

    1) Sending the ball into the box to a traditional center-forward in Olivier Giroud (#9 FRA, 4 goals in this World Cup)
    2) Individual skill + speed courtesy of their talisman, Kylian Mbappe (#10 FRA, 5 goals in this World Cup)

Note that the above would not be possible without Griezmann's (#7 FRA) midfield brilliance. I think the key for Argentina is not stopping Giroud or Mbappe, but rather they should focus their attention on limiting Antoine Griezmann's control of the midfield (I think he has been the key to France's offense). Otamendi (#19 ARG) and Paredes (#5 ARG) will certainly have their hands full on Sunday.

For France, the message is clear: Messi (5 goals in this World Cup) is the key to stopping Argentina. Leo is more of a Xavi/Iniesta these days than the speedy La Pulga we knew from 5 years ago. He is the engine of the Argentine offense as opposed to the false 9 of the last decade. Julian Alvarez (#9 ARG, 4 goals in this World Cup) has come into his own in this World Cup but I doubt that would have happened without Messi. Lautaro Martinez (#22) was expected to be another potential threat for the Albiceleste but he has underperformed, tbh.

In terms of coaching, Dechamps (FRA) has been excellent in their first 2 matches in this World Cup but have not necessarily been brilliant in the games afterwards (Morocco and England dominated them for long stretches; FRA were lucky Harry Kane missed a penalty). Scaloni screwed up his tactics against Saudi Arabia but Argentina is peaking at the right moment, beating a very good Croatian team by no less than three goals.

    Ganda ng laban.

For sure dadami Messi fanatics na magsasabi na siya ang GOAT hehe. I still believe Pele is the GOAT but Messi is now in the mount rushmore of football.

Definitely the greatest World Cup final match of all time, one for the ages! The last 40 minutes were absolutely nerve-shredding, a titanic battle between two great teams with two great players: Messi and Mbappe.

Kylian cemented his immortality while Leo finally gets the only trophy missing from a legendary career.

Btw, I don't imagine these two playing vs Strasbourg in nine days' time. This past 3 weeks must have taken a lot from them, especially Messi.

I hope this match will be available for download in the coming days. I will definitely watch it again.

Best World Cup final i have watched live on screen since the first one i watched way back in 1994.

My apple watch Heart rate monitor was beeping me in the last hours of the game due to sudden peaks and dips in my Heart rate.

Overall, it was a great tournament too, to be honest. Lots of underdogs doing really well, great performances from many marquee players, and the most exciting final imaginable (which also came with a happy ending, imho).

I wish it hadn't been in Qatar but the location may have well contributed to a great performance from the teams. Usually, many players are burned out in the summer, particularly if their teams had gone through a bit of a slog all through the season. This world cup had to be done in November and December (to avoid the extreme heat of the desert), right in the middle of the season where most players are on peak fitness.
