My thoughts...
Overhaul our sports bodies. Tangna, tagal na nilang nakaupo diyan, wala pa rin silang mabigay na suporta sa mga athletes. Yung isang sports commission, mag-ama pa ang nakaupo. Pati ba naman sports, ginagawang family business?
A program has got to be in place to support those sports that don't require height and heft: badminton, boxing, gymnastics to name a few. Akala ko nung nauso ang badminton, some promising players would emerge. Pero wala. Hanggang intrams, inter-office, inter-village, inter-association lang ang kaya.
Win regional, then work up to global. I thought after the SEA Games that was hosted here, marami nang pambato ang Pinas. No.1 tayo noon. Then again, that was dubious. Si FG Arroyo ang may pakana nun. Baka nilagyan lang ang mga opisyal.
Oh well. We can console ourselves that no other ASEAN nation has won a medal yet in London. Or meron na ba?
And for today's inspiring moment, nakakabilib itong si Oscar Pistorius, a.k.a. Blade Runner. he may be a double amputee but his heart and guts more than make up for his missing limbs: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/06/sp...ss&emc=rss
