May 3rd, 2023 12:25 PM #3541Lessons learned ko na to.
I admitted my car to have car AC repair and the verdict is to baklas dashboard to fix or replace evaporator ba yun or condenser.
They are actually expert daw sa car AC repair.
They were able to fix the AC issue, but when its time to brought back the dashboard, there are issues coming out that were not there before.
Autolocks won't work anymore, the PRDN lever is not anymore leveled with the label.
Hindi na din maglolock ang lever if you switch it to P, you can now switch the lever to RND without pressing the unlock button. Even from D, pwd mo na ma switch to R or N without pressing unlock button.
The autolock issue was the major one and I insisted to have them fix, walang expert sa kanila about the car door locks.
Nagpa schedule pa ang may-ari para kunin yung dating expert nila sa electrical na sa competitor shop na nagwowork.
The electrical technician was able to fix the issue, may na pull out/detach na diode connnector when they did the dashboard baklas. But marami ng na cut na wire to test san galing yung disconnection.
But the PRDN lever was not fixed, it is not level anymore with the label, including the P lock. Ma switch ko na yung lever from P to R,N,D. Even from D can be switch to R or N without pressing the lock button.
Next time for any jobs that will require dashboard baklas, make sure to have it in a shop na marunong din magbalik ng dashboard and with those that has mechanics/technicians available if something wrong. Sa shop na yun, AC specialists nalang natitirang mechanics nila.

May 4th, 2023 12:12 AM #3544That was Tucson 2009, need i remove ang takip ng lever para mabaklas yung lower part ng dashboard where the AC part to be serviced is located. Evaporator ata tawag dun sa part na yun, may tagas daw, but instead of buying new part, they just have to solder it.
It worked naman and AC was running cool for 2 yrs time w/o any issues.
Damage ko nun is 5k since ganyan daw talaga labor for baklas job.

May 4th, 2023 12:32 AM #3545it would appear to me,
that your stick issues are more of mechanical and not electrical, in nature.
"faulty re-assembly of the components."
it's too late now to say, "sometimes, casa is the better choice..."
have you thought of befriending a casa mechanic, and invite him to your garage on his day off?

Nanlulumo talaga ako whenever I see my car's dash and steering wheel. The steering wheel I can easily (and relatively cheaply) have it wrapped at Seatmate but the dash is the big issue. It makes my car look laspag when it's really sariwa and low mileage. The sidings, seats and odometer proves it naman, but it's so frustrating when I drive my car.
My car has a lot of dings na rin. I found a NEW one, some idiot dinged my rear passenger door, hindi na kaya ng rubbing compound kasi it looks like the paint chipped. I'll have all these fixed, isang gawaan na lang.
I used to drive Gen 10 more than my Gen 11 but not anymore kasi I don't like seeing the melted dash

What did Toyota have to say about this? Even if it was out of warranty considering that a lot of owners have the same issue.
I remember that Honda recalled our civic to replace the belt straps of the gas tank even if it was out of warranty.

July 23rd, 2023 03:02 PM #3549That was a big issue! Alam ko Toyota was forced to extend warranty on the dashboards and reimburse owners who had them fixed on their own. Ewan ko lang kung paano nangyari sa local, but you should complain to your CASA about it.
