We cant compromise our sovereignty that's why we need russian weapons to deter chinese aggression. Russian weapons are cheaper than US manufactured weapons. We can get more weapons with russia for the little budget that we have for our military

We need a good leader like noynoy in order to acquire weapons and build infrastructures at the same time. Otherwise the money that we need to defend our country will simply line the pockets of corrupt officials just like what happened before. Using Russian and Chinese arms will not only pose a political (read up on CAATSA) but also military and logistical problems for us. For one they are incompatible with our mostly western arsenal. Our western military doctrine is also different from them. Look at the Sokol helicopters, now relegated to SAR and VIP transport duties. And logistically its a nightmare for us. Where are the AKs the Russians and Chinese gave us during the Marawi siege? In storage for lack of bullets (we don't manufacture 7.62x39mm locally). Even the Ural trucks they gave are not much used because they aren't tropicalized.
