disassembled and cleaned an electric fan. blades won’t spin so I sprayed a healthy dose of wd40. prayed that it won’t catch fire and then turned it on.

it lasted a few weeks, but it eventually seized up again. i even removed the housing, so's i can squirt some lubricant from time to time.
it appears, replacing the bushings is the long-term solution.
there was a shop nearby that did it for me. alas, the shop had since moved.
