February 28th, 2010 05:28 AM #153Try testing using 'Makati', not 'Metro Manila', or better yet a USA or Singapore server to have a better measure of your real internet speed. You can click it on the map before doing the speedtest.

The 'Manila' server kasi is operated by Bayantel. Over here the ISPs are rather unfriendly with each other so your traffic is routed all the way out to somewhere overseas, typically Japan, Singapore or Australia before going all the way back to the test server. Every other developed country will have good cross-ISP interoperability.

February 28th, 2010 11:19 AM #155my PLDT plan 990 landline and 384 kbps DSL bundle. very reliable for two years now but obviously capped to 512 kbps max. will test the dedicated dsl line later.

We're actually using PLDT but because we have our own IP address allocation from APNIC, it's one of our company names that is displayed.
