I quit playing Metro Last Light back in 2013 after Steam somehow trashed my saved games. I started over......

Other games like the Witcher 3 and Far Cry 3 and 4 seem to have benefited from Window 10/DX12. I saw an increase of framerates among them. Not Metro Last Light. Framerates are still in the 30's and 40's.

Nice relaxing weekend. The wife and kids doing their own thing (at the mall). I'm at home being a bum. Actually, I'll go to the gym later. For now? Indulge.

    More Metro Last Light

I'm redownloading games that have clients (Steam, Origin, and Uplay) back on my laptop. I had uninstalled them and left only those older games that are standalone.

I have a gut feeling we'll do this year's road trips during the holidays and the laptop will be my primary computer.

Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, Mass Effect games, Watch Dogs, GTA V, The Witcher 3 among others.

I'm currently downloading GTA V on Steam for my laptop. Its size used to be just 59 GB. But, it's now up to 66 GB. I wonder what extra stuff did R* add? 7 GB is a lot.

Also.... My laptop used to run Far Cry 4 at the very lowest settings at 1366x768 just to hit 25-35 fps. Now? it can run the game at Medium settings with 2xAA and FXAA using the Nvidia Control Panel while maintaining 30-40+ fps.

I also restarted playing GTA5 on my laptop. I love games driving on free world. Also downloading Test Drive Unlimited 2, so I can drive around Ibiza again.

I like driving around in GTA V's world. I also like to get on the train and enjoy the view.

The Witcher 3 at the very lowest settings on my laptop. Although the framerates still say otherwise, the game is playable with the movement and combat not that jerky at all. It feels much better now compared to when I first installed the game last year with the controls heavy and movement jerky.

I'm satisfied with the performance. Both laptop CPU and GPU are 2012 technology.

Laptop specs? The screenshot was from my desktop PC. GTA V was still being downloaded on the laptop. ;)

    2012 ASUS G46VW

    • Intel i5 3230m: dualcore with hyperthreading, 2.6 Ghz (3.2 Ghz turbo)
    • 8 GB DDR3 RAM
    • Video: 2 GB GTX 660m (equivalent to a desktop HD 5770) for gaming, HD 4000 for non-gaming
    • 14" LCD, 1366x768
    • Battery life: ~6-7 hours for regular non-gaming tasks
    • Hard drive: 750 GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD
    • Windows 10 64-bit

On the laptop. A 2 GB VRAM limit restricts the amount of detail allowed. Still okay enough.
