My HS classmate owns one (Xiaomi MI4). He has good reviews for it! Great performance as it boasts a Quad core processor + 3Gb ram so gaming is not a problem. 13MP camera as well that could produce great quality photos & snaps (not sure about low light conditions though). 3k mah battery as well, so it could last a day (depends on how you use it though). Until now, the phone is working without any problems (he got it November last year).

Specs wise, it seems like it's better than my Z1 but at a cheaper price.

I've seen the specifications sheet and basing from the specs sheet, yes I think it's better because it has a bigger screen & more ram. 64 bit processor & expandable storage too! Although the MI4 was released almost a year earlier than the Zenfone 2.

Xiaomi is an intruiging brand. I rarely trust anything "china made", but my techy friend highly recommends it. He owns an mi3, and i own a fairly new high end android phone in an htc m8 and i have to say it is just as snappy. Pretty high praise since my m8 is considerably faster than my brother's lg g3 My kuya has a z3 and my other brother has a z2, both of which i like as well, and both of which i think my phone performs better, minus the camera, but for the money youre paying, xiaomi is a good "budget friendly" high end phone. Quality is on par sa market leaders. And yes, we gave up on Samsung yeaaaars ago. Lol.

Tumatanda na din ako. By the time i need to upgrade again nasa 30+ years old na ako. Xiaomi will be on the top of my list if it continues to get good reviews. Tipid tipid na in the future!

You might want to look at the OnePlus One.

1+ One has good specs. AFAIK, imported units lang available sa pinas so no after sales support and warranty. I may not be updated though. Been using MI3 for quite a while now and I'm satisfied with it. Bang for the buck phone.

Ironic, how most of my peers would recommend staying away from Xiaomi due to buggy software.

When there's a sale, the sometimes pull items out of the list.

Better check the charging times for the solar powered types. The solar cells are so small i doubt if they'd be that fast.

Please suggest a good quality, basic phone with WiFi. Something that's small enough and with a good battery life to last more than a day with light use. The smaller, the better. It doesn't have to be a smartphone but WiFi is needed.

Currently using OnePlus One and finding it too big (5.5 inches). Also tried the Motorola Moto G (5 inches), still find it big but the features are ok.

Considered the Nokia 215 but it doesn't have WiFi. Prefer the known brands, absolutely no china brands. So far the contender is the Motorola Moto E (2nd gen) although screen size is still big 4.5 inches. Maybe there's a smaller, better option.

Have you considered Blackberry Curve and Nokia Asha 503? If they're still in the market though.

Can't think of recent feature phones with WiFi since Nokia/SE stopped making them.

A relative has one of those Alcatel low end units, rather hard to use because it's too slow. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 seems promising though but it's 4.7 inches. Getting good reviews.

Right now, looking at Moto E 2nd gen, Sony Xperia E4g and LG Leon.
