Windows 8 getting ‘overwhelmingly negative’ response from vendors

Some of Microsoft’s supply chain vendors are said to be very unimpressed by the company’s soon-to-be-released Windows 8 platform

The PC market is heading for a ‘muted December quarter' and Microsoft’s Windows 8 is failing to impress key manufacturers inside the company’s supply chain, according to one analyst.

Topeka Capital analyst Brian White has been visiting with key supply chain manufacturers in Asia and is reporting that many have expressed an ‘overwhelmingly negative’ perception towards Microsoft's soon-to-be-released Windows 8 platform.

White says Windows 8 will fail to impact the market significantly upon arrival later this month, despite the number of hybrid tablet devices it will launch aboard in the months between now and Christmas.

Microsoft will have to wait until at least half through 2013 before Windows 8 gains any sort of traction, White added.

Microsoft is reportedly investing around $1.5 - $1.8 billion into marketing Windows 8. Yet despite this White claims the PC market is headed for a ‘muted December quarter.’

Microsoft’s Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 are poised to launch at the end of the month.

Hardware, both in the form of tablets and smartphones, will begin to appear in stores as early as November.
