    heh heh.
but it seems telcos aren't willing to bet 85M deactivated sims will quickly be replaced with new sims

they may know their business better than regular folks

    really?

it took time and a lot of work for telcos to reach the current number of users

you wipe out half of those ya think they'll get back to that number in a week? in a month?

    no way
Im thinking people who use their sims actively will have impetus to buy a new one once deactivated na yung current na unregistered. Those who don't use theirs much in the first place, wala masyadong loss i think.

You could lose subscribers this way, mawawala yung nagmamaintain lang ng sim not because of better service but because of the hassle in switching. Also, kung di sila maka-register due to problems like 'walang valid id', after deactivation, di pa din sila makakabili ng sim kasi required na iregister. Yun yung loss.

They might just be exaggerating the 85M. For all we know, more than half of those were already inactive.

110M ang population natin, and ilan lang dyan ang meron mobile phones that require simcards? Yes, a lot of people own more than 1 sim, pero hindi siguro aabot ng 170M active sim cards.

the telcos asked the gov't for extension

there's no other reason except money

    they know their business

they know what will happen to their income if half the sims are deactivated

looks like significant ang magiging loss kaya naextend

    that's the bottom line

Definite na malaki ang impact sa telcos.

Like Smart, spend huge sum to ask subscribers to register; they got Maine Mendoza to deliver the message, then produce an ad, bought air time sa tv stations.

From a business standpoint, business people hate uncertainties, risk yun eh. Kung monopolize mo, ok lang, pero hindi.
