It means there is a separate graphics chip preferably made by ATI or nVidia and come with its own dedicated video ram. It's also called "discrete graphics"

Discrete graphics are best for those who game. A good example of a laptop with discrete graphics is the MacBook Pro.

got a toshiba satellite r15 a year ago. this is the tablette type which you can twist and flip the screen. they had a sale at toshiba.com and with a relative coming home from the u.s......pinabili ko na. got it for u$ 1,600. saved a lot of moolah as it was selling here for php 120k. grabe talaga, hataw and branded notebooks dito.

added 1 gig of ram as i do a lot of graphic works. very satisfied and i'd say it's very much worth the price i paid. would not hesitate getting another toshiba

    What brand? Why?
    a. IBM/Lenovo?
    b. Toshiba?
    c. Sony Vaio?
    d. Dell?
    e. Fujitsu?
    f. others?

    What screen ratio?
    a. 16:9
    b. 4:3
macbook or macbook pro. haba baterya. yan bibilhin ko susunod, I only have an ibook as of now pero dream ko yan.

screen ratio? 16:9 na kagad. widescreen mas ok. I have a widescreen Imac G5 as desktop, iba talaga pag rectangular na viewing screen, you'll never wish to go back to 4:3.

all new macbooks are in 16:9 ratio. in fact lahat na ata ng apple computers eh. 4:3 will be phased out na siguro.

    for a laptop gamer,

i suggest you get the acer aspire 5560. you get updated discrete videocard (ATI 1600) that has full dedicated videocard of i think 128MB or 256MB which can be increased to 512MB thru shared memory (Hypermemory). This cost around 73T. This videocard is the same used in the Macbook pro likewise its specs are quite similar (except for the ghz used in the processors)at half the price.

im using this laptop. and it really is quite fast. imho

Core Duo has been phased out. It's yesterday's news. The latest thing is Core2 Duo. Almost the same price as the Core Duo. Very little to no difference in price :-)

Core Duo was the first dualcore cpu for laptops. They're quite fast but not as fast as the AMD X2 dualcores.

Core 2 Duo are the new top dog dualcore cpu's which dethroned the AMD X2 dualcores. They're substantially quicker than the AMD X2's and yet, they run much cooler.

With Core Duo/Core 2 Duo pretty widepsread, this is probably the best time yet to buy a laptop.
