I replaced ALL of my routers with TP-LINK brand wifi routers. No problems at all. Even my brother's friend and in-laws have taken my advise and used TP-LINK routers. It's quite affordable at P1,400 for a 4-port wifi B/G 54mbs router.

BTW, I suggest you invest into wifi-N standard routers for the added speed and range. Even if your current devices aren't "N" standard, at least you can have the option for it anytime you want.

i only got to read this now... i bought a Linksys WRT54G2 already... thanks anyways.

Guys, hav you encountered this aa(airborne access) Linksys WRT54GL? Im planning to flash it with DDRT Firmware, problem is aa's OpenWRT console has no link button to FirmWare upgrade. Does anybody know how to flash this thing?
Hi jatcos! i was able to successfully flash DD-WRT standard firmware into a WRT54GL router, no problem so far. DD-WRT offers more features than the standard firmware provided by Bufallo. It's quite easy flashing a new firmware into that router but you have to be very careful as you might "brick" your router. For more info, please refer to this website:

just follow the instructions in that website. Good Luck!

    update...

i had the Linksys WRT54G2 router replaced with D-LINK DIR 300 because of compatibility issues with my Siemens modem... my wifi set-up is up and running perfectly now.

Just to resurrect this thread, I found our old Linksys wrt54g v.5 lying around the cabinet, would like to try this out since the signal is strong enough to cover both first and second floors.

The problem is I can't log in to it's default setting via browser (198.168.1.1), it gives out a semi-blank page with out the name fields. I was wondering if flashing the router and installing the firmware would do the trick? Also I'm not that techie to do this myself. Any help would be appreciated.

I would prefer simply to buy a new "N" router. Stronger signal with faster speeds.

Actually I already have a Linksys N E1200 when I saw the old WRT54G lying around, would like to connect the 2 routers for a wider coverage area, one on the ground floor and the other one on the second floor.

Have tried both including the hard reset 20 seconds pressing the reset. Already consulted a computer It, would try to upgrade the firmware and see if it will work. It only gives off a setup page but incomplete fields, more like hanging.

    Thanks for the input guys.

It can be quite frustrating when you've encounter with router and modem issues especially for non-tech folks. Have you tried reaching out to their customer service? If you think you've done all the basic troubleshooting and still experiencing similar issues, it maybe time to replace with a new router. WiFi Routers & Wireless Routers | TP-Link Philippines
