Also had tons of problems with Linksys routers overheating and eventually having disconnection issues.

i am planning to buy a router for my new home. would any of you recommend a good yet reasonably priced router, please? i am planning to buy one today or tomorrow or as soon as globe would be able to install its line...

also, i need one that's easy to install...easy to troubleshoot.

Get the Edimax nMax Draft 2.0, it's only about 2,500+

WiFi-N 300Mbps (i have tested this both with Macbook Pro and a pc with WiFi-N device).

If you can, get the 6574n because of its Gigabit Ethernet which is useful if you've got gigabit network storage devices. However, all 802.11n models are fine (three antenna models).

Never had any problem with Edimax routers for several years (i think five).

btw, the tomato can do a software reboot. kaya ba ng linksys router nyo yan? ako log in lang ako sa web-gui based interface ng tomato pag mabagal, reboot ko linksys router ko.

I can even do QOS per workstation connected. before I became a bizman, dati akong MCP Holder (Microsoft Certified Professional), MCSE to be specific. idol ko kasi Bill gates noon eh. i know networks like a hobby.

and also i'm quite sure meron mga DSLAM region techs na pinaglalaruan talaga linksys nyo. kaya kahit tumawag kayo sa call center walang alam yun, kasi yun tech eh puwede naman nya gawin yun if he wants to favor bandwidth to a favored few. and the sad thing is, nobody in the higher ups will never know the activity. who says corruption is only at the govt. level. talagang corrupt tayo mga pinoy even sa tech level. kaya nga may libreng cable tv yun iba, may i-cafe na P5/hr kasi yun metro kontrolado ng tech.
Mukhang ok yan a, kaso it can't be used for routers with versions 5 and above. Mine is version 5.

Linksys has a built-in reboot control. But even then, to restore a linksys router's function, a cold start is required. No amount of warm reboots helped.

duh? Feature ng router na ito. Depends on what model you bought and firmware was installed. In my case, yes, my later model routers had this feature as well.

So what? I also got my MS Win NT certification, HP support certification for laptops and laser printers back in the day I was a network systems engineer.

Actually, GenMtg/Oldblue is correct, hacking the firmware of linksys is by far the BEST solution. Even countless network threads across the internet will attest to this and of course, some personal experience.

Linksys themselves realized this and even had linux edition of their routers (those with L suffix in the model).

The cannot find page was resolved in mine by changing ISP that requires the DHCP Server of the router to be disabled - works like a charm. Kahit one week naka-on di na natatameme yung router sa pag-renew.

Hi, HP! i went to digital hub but they don't sell Edimax...i bought an AirPort Express 820.11n wifi instead...haven't tried it yet, globe hasn't completed it's installation yet...i should have bought a TP-Link, but then the sight of cdrking's long queue made me sick...

TP-Link products aren't sold by CDRKing. TP-Link devices are available from regular computer shops.

    Good choice. :D

As for the Edimax, sana pala ibinili na lang kita dito then courier but then I thought you really really need it.

Medyo matagal talaga installation ng Globe. Konti pa lang kasi infra nila e.

If, I'm not mistaken, may USB port yan where you can attach your printer. Para wireless printing na rin. :D

I guess changing the name and password is already high tech for you. Have you also tried doing the WPA/WAP/etc along with setting the mach-number to define who can and cannot connect with your router as well?

Did you mean you connected your new router to the modem and you can't get an internet connection?

This might sound stupid but ... Did you configure the router for the type of connection (DHCP, PPOE, etc) your broadband provider is giving you?

You can try giving Globe a call regarding the configuration their system is using and try checking the router's config matches what the Globe helpline said.

i have called them already about my connection difficulties...but they referred me back to digital hub. is it ok if i just bring the siemens modem of globe and my router to digital hub? can they still do some trouble shooting even without attaching those to my telephone line so long as its globelines? the customer service representatives seemed not so competent to answer to all my queries...anyway, i still have one day more to return the router just in case i can't use it for the purpose i had in mind when i bought it.

wait a minute (duh!) ... have you tested the modem by directly connecting it to your computer? If it's working, then assume the problem is the router, either the configuration is wrong or the router is defective. Either way, it's hard for someone (like me) to diagnose via forum discussion.

Are you nor familiar enough to fiddle around in the router's basic connection settings?
