I think it will be more accurate to compare it with lumens. Yung mga better brands has lumens printed on the packaging. For comparisson, my 8watt(680lumens)led is brighter than my old 20watt spiral cfl bulb.

Like what TS said, if 24/7 use naman within a few months ROI na. The rest is savings na.

Yes lumens is the more accurate way to compare brightness. But, cdrking did not post the lumens they just said its about equal to a 40 watt incandescent bub so its a fair comparission.

    CDR KING

And their warranty is 1 year with 1 week replacement.

I just bought 2 Osram bulbs. A 2 U cfl 13 watts rated at 805 lumens P99.00 at Ace Hardware and a 18 watt spiral rated at 1166 lumens. Thats what the dti sticker says. I dont know why you find the LED brighter than the 20 watt spiral. I'm guessing its due to the age of the spiral cfl. CFLs tend to loose brightness as it ages. I forgot the term for it. LEDs do not suffer from this.

probably because of the age also. LED looses its brightness din after 50% of its life. nabasa ko lang somewhere.

For me the savings will only be realized If you replaced all your existing bulbs to LED.. Pero naman you'll be spending a big sum of money still not worth it

hindi naman kailangan all bulbs. important are the bulbs that operates at least 10 hours or more per day. yung mga nasa bedroom na ON lang 2-3 hours a day, hindi pa justifiable to replace to LED cause the ROI will take years. but if 24/7, 6 months max ROI ka na. meaning bababa na agad electricity bill mo on the first month.

savings may not be big, but you will still save. at the end of the day, savings din naman yung habol.

Can you pls post the lumens of the LEDs. It will help us compare them to cfls. From my understanding. CFL is about 5X brighter than a incandscent bulb while LEDs are 10X brighter. Meaning a 20 watt CFL is roughly equivqlent to a 100 watt bulb while a 9 watt LED is about equal to a 90 watt bulb. I know there are a lot of other factors to consider such as reflector, color, temp etc... but as a ball park I think it will do.

If anyone knows a cheap source for LEDs to replace FL bulbs, I'm interested in buying. Need to save.
meron sa 168 na mura na LED. may ganito din ako. after 1 year, ang dilim na sobra. ginawa ko nalang night light. mura lang. nasa 120 pesos lang each. ginawa kong pathway light dati. wala nga lang warranty. 1.5w ito. unknown lumens.

Kahit hindi naman whole day na nakasindi ang lights, shifting from CFL to LEDs will drop the electricity usage ng lighting system by more than half (I estmate about 60%).

    The following are my observations:

    Flourescent bulbs:
    Jan 2012 - usage 71kwh, bill P668.36
    Feb 2012 - usage 52kwh, bill P408.83
    Mar 2012 - usage 40kwh, bill P284.87
    Apr 2012 - usage 77kwh, bill P776.10
    May 2012 - usage 56kwh, bill P496.37
    Jun 2012 - usage 42kwh, bill P296.14

    LED bulbs:
    Jul 2012 - usage 22kwh, bill P113.82

We shifted the use of LED.....The cost of the bulbs was twice than the flourescent but if the rate of savings continue, it will pay-off in about 4-6 months.
    Update lang ng using LED
    Aug 2012 - usage 26kwh, bill P160.97
Sep 2012 - usage 17kwh, bill P22.88 - maraming times na nai-turn-off ang apat na LED bulbs during the day

ang laki talaga ng maititipid mo shifting to LED. kailangan matibay lang talaga yung LED.

By rough estimation, the regular savings I get is enough to pay for up to two LED bulbs every month. At this rate, my ROI will likely be less than 1 year for all the 18 LED bulbs of various wattages I've deployed around the house.

Another thing I noticed is that LED bulbs, at least from the two brands I tried: NxLED and GES, provides better contrast overall. No overtones compared to older generation LEDs (which emits a blue hue).

CFLs on the other hand, as with all fluorescent lighting, gives off a greenish hue. Our brain automatically adjusts for white balance so we don't quite notice it. But it's there nevertheless, affecting clarity and contrast. This hue can only be captured on camera.

Nope. I use them in bedrooms, the living room, dining room, toilets, foyer, and stairs. Duty cycle is probably in the area of 30-40%.

Perception. Tiny LED bulb with the same lumens as a bigger halogen bulb will look brighter if you look straight at it. But the light output will be the same om surfaces it's pointed at.

Bought 2 GES Led lights. 8-10 hours per day gamit, mga 6 months bawi na. P723 yung 9W(810lumnes) at P515 yung 5.5W(470lumens).

Mababa lumens rating nila pero maliwanag talaga. Parang hindi kapani-paniwala tuloy yung ratings ng DOE na yellow sticker na nakalagay sa mga CFL dito sa atin esp Firefly at Focus.
