July 10th, 2004 06:00 PM #354Hi guys and gals
Just new to HT and since im on a very tight budget but wanting to have a simple HT system in my room, i bought a EXTREME DVD PLAYER and a XENON 5.1 MODEL AX-205.
I know its made in china, a virtual cloners and i thank you for that. does anyone here knows my product's pros and cons. I bought it because its cheap, the player has 5.1 setup at the back and the speakers are decent enough to appreciate it, di tunog lata.
thanks.
kung mayroon pa dapat akong idagdag, please do tell.

cons - china made HT in a box or even european, japan made (heck, may japan made pa ba?) will produce decent sounding audio up to a certain level only. above this, distortion would set in.
pros - as long as your ears and wallet is happy
you don't need to spend bigtime on expensive setups.
if you have a so-so sub woofer, get yourself a bass shaker like the AURA bass shakers.

July 11th, 2004 06:37 AM #356Di ako makatulog. Revive ko tong old HT thread:
1. a pair of infinity kappa 7. (these are 1970's vintage 3 in 1 speakers)
2. a pair of Yamaha NS1000 monitors (again vintage 70's speakers. trying searching out this speaker model. It's Berrylim tweeter made a statement in audio a long time ago.)
3. a pair of Acoustic Reasearch AR90 speakers. (also vintage speakers, it has two 10 inch subs, an 8 inch mid bass, a four inch high bass and a tweeter)
4. set of Energy e:XL Home theatre speakers. (2 floor standers, 2 rear bookshelves, a center and a sub). Powered by a Yamaha RXV793.
5. set of MX4 Tannoys (2 floor standers, rear and front center, two MX2 bookshelves, Tannoy sub). This is powered by a Yamaha RXV740)
6. A set of Daichi Home Theater speakers including the ampliers. My very first set.
7. A Denon amp (i forget the model but i use it to drive the Infinity)
8. A yamaha rxv 492 receiver. I use this to power the yamaha ns1000m speakers.

buhayin ko rin yun thread na to... hope HT peeps get to read this
anyways, i'll be moving on to a new home ang getting out of the apartment...
Anyway, I'm looking for a complete setup na, yun amplified at may processor na. My wife and I auditioned yun Showroom ng boston sa megamall and they have this Digital Theater 7000 for more or less 50k. Galing! Its Dolby Digital 5.1 channel decoder built directly into the subwoofer. May 350-watt amplifier, an 8-inch powered subwoofer, two-way front and center satellite speakers, and a pair of rear surrounds.
Amplified na yun system which is just what i am looking for.
Ok na ba to? or is there something better out there for the same amount?
I heard about coax and digital outputs. Anong DVD player yun compatible sa mga HT System na "all in one"? How much should I allot for the DVD player? which is better Harman Kardon or yun Yamaha?
Also, anong magandang TV for 90k max?
thanks!

September 12th, 2004 06:30 PM #359If you're buying a TV with P90k budget, make sure it can do Progressive Scan. Progressive scan allows your TV to play DVDs at high resolution. Picture image is sharper than conventional TV. Make sure your TV also has a Component Video input. That allows your TV to hook up to your videogame console or DVD player through component video thus giving you high resolution. Mas makinis tingnan yung picture, less lines you'll see. Progressive scan will be the standard pretty soon. The next generation of videogame consoles will use higher resolution. Good TV brands would be Sony, JVC, Phillips, and Samsung. WEGA is also good pero not all model have component video input.
Don't buy a DVD player with a built-in surround sound decoder. Bad move ito. In the future if you plan to upgrade your sound system or DVD player, you can't... hindi mo na mahiwalay iyan. Kaya it's better to have a DVD player unit and then buy a surround sound unit, seperately. Make sure your system can play DD5.1 and DTS. Maraming surround sound set sila naka-setup. I can't recommend you how much wattage you need kasi personal preference talaga iyan.

Also, anong magandang TV for 90k max?
siyempre gusto ko widescreen 16:9 and also i have the liking to the brand Toshiba, kasi very true ang colors unlike sony puro exxage ang mga kulay (im using sony btw)
thanks!
for 50K eto ang suggestion kong HT
DVD: Pioneer DVD
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V550
Speakers:
Front DTX 9.5T
Center DTX 9.5C
Rear DTX 9.5B
Subwoofer DTX4.12 (12 inchers baby!!!)
(Dtx speakers are export product of dai-ichi, phil made ito, at par with china made branded entry level speakers.
siguro marami ka pang sobra for dvds niyan.
pero im not limiting you with those brands ang daming pagpipilian, for speakers may wharfdales, missions, tannoys, b&w etc. for receivers , onkyo, denon, yamaha, harman, rotel, nad, sobrang dami bro.
