You wasted a lot of money on hype.
Anyway, either leads is fine to use. The mark was just there so you'd be able to distinguish which is which. Normally, I use the marked one for the negative.

Malakas kasi power draw nito esp at high bassy volumes. It's much safer na naka-separate sya ng power block.

to test, connect an antenna to the FM screw. Set function to tuner. You should be able to hear something. Meron din yang test speaker function.

Monster THX Digital Fiber Optic (?).........or anything else I need?

thanks in advance!!

How did you connect the Sony dvd player to the AVR?
Did you set the AVR to DVD function?
Have you checked if it's on Mute?

Optical cables are best but no need to buy Monster. It's just a glass cable. I used all sorts of optical and analog cables and i have not heard a difference with monsters except for the monstrous price. hehe.

Remember that Optical is a digital data, it's a binary sequence of 0's and 1's. So as long as it gets transferred and delivers sounds with no jitter, it's fine.
