Tanggalin niyo yung plug kapag hindi niyo ginagamit kahit for short periods of time lang. In this way,you can save electricity because kahit naka turn off ang TV niyo it still consumes electricity.. we do this all the time. Most Sony's are made in malaysia but still i patronize it..

If not tuner which is sakit ng Sony or picture tube, baka fuse lang yan since power surge ang sabi mong culprit. Patatagalin nila yat at kung anu anong parts ang papalitan kunyari plus syempre labor which depends on the size of your TV.

Kung di na under warranty dalhin mo lang sa reputable electronics repair shop at h’wag mo iiwanan ….. just say paki check nga ang fuse kasi pumutok eh….that’s it.

i remember nung sa cable dumaan ang sumira sa lahat ng tv’s sa area namin (hamak na mas malakas yun dahil even mga naka off but plugged eh hindi sinanto) mostly nagpa service sa mga authorized service centers and repair ranged from 2K to 4K. while my Panasonic Gaoo eh fuse lang ang pinalitan ko. P3 petot 1.5 amperes.

+1 on the spike. It's also called Transient voltage (sudden spikes of 10,000v that lasts for a fraction of a sec). Same thing happened to my client recently, burado lahat ng data nya, nasunog Harddisk.

Personally, I think ok naman quality ng Sony. For a safety measure, I'll buy a UPS for the Bravia.

Maybe the TS got a lemon unit.

We have a Sharp TV, 1994 ko pa binili nung uso pa yung color black. Until now, still going strong, never had it serviced although matagal nang namayapa ang remote. It's with my sister now. Yung 29" LG ko naman, 2001 pa, hindi pa rin nasisira. Mind you, both units walang AVR, and both also suffered sudden voltage fluctuations a lot of times.
