i bought a wega 29 inch with dvd player last year, and after using it for slightly more than a year(kahit bihira naman gamitin) the 2 units broke down---no power. i brought it to one of the sony service centers near our place and the repair cost is so unreasonable that it is better to buy a new tv and a new dvd player from a not so well known brand.

try having it serviced to another shop - example ACT (nearest you would be their banawe branch).

BTW, do you plug your TV and player directly sa power outlet? If you do, it is very possible that your TV have been exposed to "spiking" power... napaka common nito sa kuryente sa Pilipinas.

Ideal new tv's and even players is best plugged sa AVR... kasi minsan masyadong malaki ang current spikes, that they could not handle it...eventually toasting the power supply unit.

Autovolt ang mga bagong TVs and Players... pero most of the time they could not handle these power surges.

Pag naka off yung tv switch-off ko rin yung outlet.

Have you kept them plugged in the AC outlet all the time, and then just turn them on and off using your remote controller or the switch on their panel?

I am asking this because this is not a good practice as the input circuit of your power supply is always exposed.

basta consumer electronics ang pinaguusapan gs2 ko talaga sony. i have 2 tv sets (wega) na more than 5 years na and no problems pa. nun bago bili ko pa nga hesitant ako kumuha ng extended warranty kse i know the tv will last. baka natiyempuhan ka lang chief or pwede din sa pagaalaga mo ng unit. i agree with the above posts dapat naka-avr yun electronics mo and turn it off (tv and avr) when you're not going to use it for a substantial amount of time. for me kse the tv is still considered ON kahit naka-standby mode.

iba talaga ang kulay, unsurpassed ika nga but when it comes to service center, talagang mapait kaya now for my own family – Sa National/Panasonic ako. Sa TV-Tau, ref, vaccum cleaner, aircon, flat iron, electric fans, microwave, toaster, rice cooker, blender etc.

nakaka dala na rin nga ang Sony…..

Sony products are too damn expensive nowadays. Most Sony appliances now are made in Malaysia, don't know if this contributes to the poorer quality of new Sony appliances. Although almost 9yrs na yung Wega namin at wala pang problem whatsoever.

Sony Trinitrons.. man, I've seen some last nearly ten years with no color problems.

+1 on power spikes. During the Ramos era, we lost a couple of motherboards, a half-dozen hard disks, and one or two appliances due to crappy electricity.

And if the units are just over 1 year old, they should still be warrantied, shouldn't they?

We have a Sharp Aquos LCD that fritzed at 6 months... seems like a power supply problem, too. They're still processing the warranty claim.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
