[QUOTE=3kster]Jun, just some questions, i know majority of us have multisytem TVs, but on my editing software, theres a selection on what system to encode, so what system do you usually use? Correct me if i'm wrong, but one system has better refresh rate and another has higher resolution? Which would be good for DVD playback? can i pick both?/QUOTE]

I normally stick with with whatever format is used in that country. Here in the US, I stick with NTSC. I suppose I would use NTSC too if I'm in the Philippines. Either format looks good to me.

Picanto-range, my firewire card also came with my videocam, but latest DV videocams right now don't bundle this, so I guess swerte tayo. That stayed with my old pc and my latest pc has a built in one. Regarding editing, he-he-he, sarap panoorin ng pinag hirapan, i usually send copies to my relatives just to show off what I've done, tapos yung content, eh secondary na lang
Choose the TV system in which your camera operates. Sabog ang makaka-capture na video say, your camera records NTSC video then you select PAL in your editing software (with some editing apps). PAL has better resolution than NTSC because it has more scan lines, but you can notice some flicker because of the slower frame rate, 25fps. Anong gamit mong editing software? I use Avid Xpress Pro. Gusto ko sanang mag-share ng video through a link, but that should belong to another thread.

slight OT: do you think the Mini-DV will be phased out na? mababa na bigay sa malls and mainstream mac units reverted back to firewire 400.

meron na pa MPEG4 video recording sa media cards ang leading jap brands like sony, jvc, panasonic. gusto ko na kasi magpalit eh.

MiniDV will go on. FW400 is more than plenty for MiniDV. FW800 may pick up if camcorders become HD..... at least my best guess......

I'd probably use Nero for capturing instead of Windows MovieMaker (2) which is too unstable for my tastes. Windows Movie Maker is fine for short clips. For longer events, anything else is better.

I'll try to answer this: since may USB, pwede na yan kung sa pwede, but I think for better quality, go for firewire.

My experience with MiniDv camcorders and the cables used are a bit different.

I have a 5-year old JVC GR-DVL510U MiniDV camcorder. It has still (ugly, lo-res) picture capability and stored the stills in an SD or Multimedia card. The usb cable is strictly for the stills. To transfer video to the pc, it has always been via Firewire.

    Just a thought......

Some PC's can transfer video using USB 2.0 (which reportedly is faster than Firewire)...but yeah, generally firewire is the norm.

When I bought my miniDV vidcam, akala ko pwede i-transfer via USB 1.1. Hindi pala. Windows could recognize the SD card inside my vidcam, but not the miniDV

Use the Pinnacle software to import video to your pc. I have an older version of Pinnacle Studio (version 8). The capture functions should be in the "Capture" tab and pick the device.

baka nga hindi pang video transfer ang USB ng videocam mo. mag firewire ka nalang. nasa 150 pesos lang naman ang 4pin-4pin firewire cable.

    He He. Nope. There's

    6-pin to 6-pin

    6-pin to 4-pin

    4-pin to 4-pin

Most camcorders have the 4-pin FW port.

Most likely, if you're going to transfer video to a desktop pc or a Mac desktop/laptop, you'll need a 6-pin to 4-pin. If you're transferring video to a pc laptop, 99% of the time you'll need a 4-pin to 4-pin.

Check the FW port of the computer you'll transfer video to.

Try going to SM Cyberzones. Curious, do you have an Inspiron? No FW port? What's your Dell?

    buhayin ko lang eto hehehe

got my firewire adapter somewhere in southmall.
