And speaking of areas of interest, the stretch of Zapote-Alabang Road between Petron and RFC has a lot of restaurants and bars.... To name a few: Jolibee, Mcdonald's, Pizza Hut, Red Ribbon, Star Bucks, Yellow Cab... (Shakey's, Chowking, KFC, Dunkin' Donuts, another Mcdo, another Jolibee are in front of your alma mater - UPHR, with matching pedestrian overpass with escalators).

Galing ng Las Pinas, ano? Cleanest and Greenest City Hall Of Famer in Metro Manila.

Continuing,- I am not naming the bars but there are at least 4 that are very popular, with live bands playing, stand-up comedians performing, and a host of 'beer houses'......

Edit: I'm quite anxious to visit the Philippines again just to see how much that area of Pamplona has changed. It was a fun place to be back then. It seems like a fun place still, now.

Na-aalala ko pa yung Jollibee from my last visit in 1995. All the "tsibugan". That's all I need to be happy. I can't wait til my next visit.....

The only establishment with live bands/music during my time was Shakey's by the entrance to Dona Manuela Subdivision (where the tricycles were at).

The Mayor sure knew what a good time meant......

I stand to inherit our house there. So, we may retire there once our daughter is on her own.......

But, we need to visit more often........

Also, I heard rumors of people having to sing the Philippine National Anthem out loud if they're caught jaywalking. Is that true? I mean I don't mind singing. It's just that I have a terrible singing voice. Plus, I'll have to memorize the anthem...

Singing the National Anthem, and for some,- while in a cage, was a form of 'punishment' for Jaywalkers for some time. And it was a sure dose of humor to a lot of people. However, like all of the disciplinary actions in the country, it went away. Talk about 'ningas cogon'...

One more thing about LPC....... I don't know if it's just me. But, I can't find the tall water towers at Phase 1 of Dona Manuela Subdivision and the one by the basketball court. Those were HUGE water towers and should've cast a long shadow on the Google images. It's also the same with the concrete water tower of UPH which was at least 3-4 stories high.

Is there an ordnance in Las Pinas against tall water towers? Just curious.......

Ehem ... use "Fly To" and enter "10236 Charing Cross Road, Los Angeles". Google Earth will take you to the front gate of the mansion. It's the one with the roundabout at its front, SSW of the gate.

I was there from the mid-70's to the early 80's.

I remember me and the varsity soccer team going swimming at the Philamlife Village pool every Saturday after practice. Then, I'd take the "eskinita" by the gas station across Fernando's Supermarket as a shortcut home to Dona Manuela Subdivision.

I can't find the swimming pool still, though. Is it now enclosed or obscured by trees?

Anyway, I remember just one family from Philamlife Village, the Sulits.

Not sure who Benson Sulit was. I knew a Benjamin Sulit (from Philamlife Village). We were also together at St.Andrew's before PHCR (if it's the same guy, he'll know the story about that, He He).

Once at PHCR, we went on to each have our own "barkada". Actually, I preferred to be a lone wolf. But, I'm either being grabbed by the Pilot class (where I knew a lot of people and the class I was supposed to be in for 4th year) for academic related stuff or practicing with the varsity soccer team.

My handle "Jun aka Pekto" should be a dead giveaway for members of my graduating class.

75-76 and only the freshman year. I would've liked it there because St.Paul's was just across (and where my sister had her HS). But, destiny said otherwise.... There used to be a comic book store across the street from the church/and market where I used to buy a lot of Sgt Rock, The Losers, and The Haunted Tank comics.
Then there's an eskinita next to St.Paul's where I passed through to get to a kantina for lunch. Then at the back of St Andrews were little stalls where I often bought "pisbol" and buko juice.

Yes, I remember them too. If you encountered Ms. Cabrera, then she is in TX or AZ since 5-10 years ago. Part of the waves of Filipino teachers who went to the US for greener pastures.
