I think 8gb is plenty for casual use. Pretty cool how they integrated the memory on the m1 chip. Not upgradeable but maybe the memory tests should be fine. Even for 1080p video editting. Reviews will be released on or before Nov17.

Casual use yes. But I use my Macbook for Lightroom and iMovie.

And if I were to upgrade I'd want it to last ~5 yrs so 16GB is minimum to go for me.
