DVfile Tape to PC

Minana ko kasi yung Panasonic PV-GS31 Video Recorder ni utol ko. Everyone knows that this unit stores video recorded sa DVtape.

May nakasubok na ba sa inyo to transfer the contents nung DVtape papuntang PC so i can watch it via Windows Media or can convert it into a VCD/DVD format?

Afaik, this also applies to other Video recorders in DVtape storage formats. Wala na kasing manual eh. wala rin akong makitang downloadable instructions sa internet.

HG, you need a video capture software like Pinnacle Studio 10. Your PC needs to have a fairly large HDD with lotsa free space left, a fast PCU and a memory (recommended minimum) 512MB (much better if 1G) to achieve decent results in terms of speed of capture/encoding. Most importantly, your PC needs to have FireWire support and you need a FireWire cable. Most video capture software like Pinnacle Studio 10 would allow you to either burn your captured videos into VCD or DVD formats.

actually, no problem with my PC. i have around 140 GB to spare... memory is 512MB so walang problem.

yang pinnacle software ba is freeware/shareware?

tsaka during the video capture process ba may compression na nangyayari?

on the firewire, no problem. i think i can use my firewire na ginagamit ko sa IPOD. or i can still use a USB cable. may kasama syang cable eh.

Make sure that your cam has DV out. kung meron, then all you need is firewire or a capture card. If you plan to capture from DV lang and hindi na from VHS or other avenues that don't need DVout, firewire would be enough. With capturing, I use Premier via firewire. Maraming conversions at your disposal. More or less if you plan to edit then you use .avi Then later mo nalng compress to the quality that suits you.

will be using the cam tomorrow (first time) sa graduation ng anak ko. gusto ko sana i-store sa DVD eh.

Me I use DV-1000. Bundled ito with my videocam nung binili ko. Parang network card ito i-install mo sa pc, complete with cables and software (Windvd creator). You can convert minidv format to .avi or mpeg. Depende rin ang transfer rate. May nabibili nito sa mga computer shops like Villman. Php 1,200 ata ang cost.

if your PC has built-in firewire port, you'll only need to buy a fireware cable (around P 125-150 lang sa Compex, but you have to check kung 4-pin or 6-pin yun ports ng videocam and pc mo. 2 types of cables kasi.

meron din nabibili cheap video capture card yun innodv sa gilmore kung wala built-in firewire port. my pc has generic capture card built-in sa board nya kaya cable na lang binili ko last month.

capture is a breeze if you'll use Adobe Premiere. others kasi parang hindi ok capture quality like Windvd or Windows Movie Maker.

You can transfer your video to PC by using a TV tuner card. You can just do a playback from the DV camera to the TV tuner's video-in port. The tv tuner software will just record to a video file on the PC. Not the highest quality but it will work. Then just burn the video file to your CD Writer using NERO.

Most MiniDV cameras have a 4-pin firewire port. It might be a good idea to have 2 types of firewire cables: a 4-pin to 4-pin for laptops and a 4-pin to 6-pin for desktops.

You can use MovieMaker 2 to capture uncompressed avi or DV-AVI. Bear in mind that an hour of footage can take more or less around 12 gb.

I prefer to use 3rd party software such as Pinnacle Studio or Ulead Video Studio and do an on-the-fly conversion to mpeg2 instead of DV-AVI. Smart-rendering built-in to at least Ulead Video Studio (not sure about Pinnacle Studio) should keep degradation to a minimum by avoiding repeated re-renders.

Pinnacle video studio 9 ang gamit ko. I suggest na wag mo ilalagay sa long play ang recording mo, nabawasan kasi ang picture quality.

Another option to consider is a standalone DVD recorder if all you want is to watch your video as a DVD or VCD without any fancy menus. A DVD recorder will give you the absolute best picture quality without the hassles of capturing and rendering in a pc. Even VCD mode (6 hrs in a DVD platter) has more than acceptable quality. Just make sure the DVD recorder has a firewire port.

Ito sir ginamit ko before, siguradong di ka papalya dito:

1) Ulead Video Studio (yon copy ko dati kasama nung binili ko yong firewire card ko)
ito yong gagamitin mong pang capture at pang edit. super dali to gamitin pang
novice talaga. So .AVI bale yong output nito galing sa pc mo.


TIP: Minsan, medyo cut mo din yong pag capture mo kasi medyo mahirap mag
convert sa MPEG pag sobrang laki nung file. Ako usually, cut ko every 20 mins.

Pag mas sanay ka na pwede ka nang mag upgrade sa Media Studio (ulead din to)
mas advance yong effects at mga style na pwede mong gamitin.
2) Once na meron ka nang .AVI files. Gamitin mo yong TEMPGENC na pang convert to
VCD. Freeware ito. Meron kang trial period na 30 days to create you video in
SVCD format pero after 30 days VCD na lang. So it this point meron ka nang
*.MPEG files.

3) Gamit ka nang VCDeasy para ma-write mo yong videos mo sa CD at mapapanood mo na sa ordinary player. Freeware din pala ito.

The best yong quality nung TEMPGENC at VCDeasy as far as freewares are concern.

.. pag medyo tinatamad ka naman, bili ka na lang nung dvd recorder.. mura na lang ngayon yon eh. meron nang nabibili sa singapore na mga 300 to 500 sing dollar. meron pa nga ako nakita na 200 sing dollars nung isang araw kasi di nga lang known yong brand. Cguro sa pinas baka halos ganun na din price nyan... 9500 to 15000 php
