We actually don't use the hot water function of our dispenser. For hot drinks, we just pop a mug of water in the microwave for 2 minutes. In rare cases we need more, we use the wireless kettle.

sayang kuryente...? which consumes more water kaya, the boiling water dispenser or the microwave?
convenience-wise, the dispenser is more convenient...

our kasambahay,
she prefers the thermos over the dispenser.
she also prevers hand-laundry over our under-used automatic washing machine.
methinks she is tech-'fraid.

as an aside,

those old enough to remember,
"thermos" used to keep our hot water hot, thruout the day.
hassle magpakulo, then transfer to the thermos... pour out of thermos everytime one wants for a hot cup of coffee... magpakulo ulit kapag na-ubos na laman nang thermos...

"thermos" was a popular brand of "insulated water bottle".
just like pridyider (frigidaire) or rufina (patis in bacolod) or FX (toyota, natch!, for UV express vehicle)... and kleenex, popsicle, scotch tape, aspirin...

Currently using Electrolux bottom loading water dispenser

Has Hot, Warm and Cold buttons.

Nag conk out na yung Cold button and nothing comes out. This button died after 1 year.

Yung Warm naman nagiging Cold.

So I am down to Hot and Cold only.

I just mix Hot and Cold to get Warm water now

This is what I would hate to happen kasi. I get really disappointed in myself if I make a bad purchase

I still can't decide between Fujidenzo and Condura. Which is the better brand ba? I like the look of button Condura (stainless) but button Fujidenzo has more reviews. My friend said just get the cheaper one LOL. Pero ako kasi my main driver is quality over price (within my budget, wag naman yung double LOL)

Siguro kung hindi white yung lever na Fujidenzo, I would have gotten it na

It varies. A good analogy would be your refrigerator.... mas malakas electricity consumption if the doors are opened frequently or left open for an extended amount of time vs if it is kept closed.

Sa water dispenser, it uses less electricity if you don't consume cold or hot water as the temperature is retained longer. But as soon as you start drawing water, syempre aandar ang compressor and/or hot water heater nyan to prep the next batch. The more you use it (or if you have a big family), the more power it consumes.

However, electricity consumption of one model vs another is quite negligible with regards to the compressor (cold) power consumption. On the hot side, there are what's called "low-wattage heater" na models. Yung Camel namin, mababa lang wattage ng heater. The only issue with that is that it takes about 20-25 minutes for the hot water to be ready from room temperature. That's why I set my schedule to turn on at least half an hour before we need it. Other models would have a higher heater wattage so you'll get hot water sooner (12-15 mins).

BTW, ang weird ng Condura. I read na another factor in choosing is the distance/nearest service center. They have tons sa provinces but ZERO in Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Paranaque, Pasay, Alabang etc. Those are major cities. They only have in QC, Manila, Marikina and Las Pinas.

I don't think it would matter much which type (combined or individual spouts). On the combined spout, the residual amount of hot or cold water going to the next guy should be negligible.... a couple of drops at most and nowhere in the quantity that would mess up the drink.

Don't worry too much about that. Importante meron silang service center within MM. It's not like you're going to visit them naman frequently. Like I said several posts back, the tech in these water dispensers are pretty much mature. There's really very little that can go wrong.

my guess is,
it don't matter much, single versus double spout.
personal choice po yan.

my guess is,
it will malfunction after the warranty lapses.
in which case, a generic repair facility should be able to fix it.
i have this suspicion that the innards of all them various brands, are just about the same, i.e., same manufacturer.

I'm really not sure kung alin mas matipid but I think the microwave is kasi 2 lang kami nagkakape sa umaga, and only 1 cup a day. We don't have to heat the whole vessel for that and let it continuously reheat the water while waiting for the other to make their cup. Less convenient? maybe, but it's already routine so we don't notice.

I set both Hot and Cold on custom schedules.

We only need hot water in the morning for coffee so it turns on an hour before we typically wake up and turns off automatically at around 9 in the morning.

For cold water, it runs between 6am to 9pm only.

They're also set to turn on earlier weekly during my coding days and on Sundays.
