actually nope, they havent been saying that every year (coz i follow them). the last time they beat intel was during the Athlon.
but this time they seem to have a very good product that's at least competitive w/ intel and possibly even more than a bit better
it's funny that intel doesn't seem to be so mighty anymore. qualcomm is beating them in the mobile space which they just bailed out from. even funnier is that intel's cross-patent deal w/ nvidia is expiring soon so rumor has it that intel's going to be licensing AMD's graphics tech!!!let's not forget that AMD is now supplying graphics for most if not all the current gaming consoles. intel's dominance in CPU is now being challenged by Ryzen. and ARM is also getting into the server game
what intrigues me a lot about the zen architecture is how well it handles cache. but I guess that's Jim Keller's magic touch for you...
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
speaking of Ryzen, they tested an engineering sample that is capped at 3.4 GHz

looks very promising. The point here is that they don't necessarily have to beat intel's halo offerings. They just have to price it aggressively like they've done in the past.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
I just replaced the power supply with another branded one.
The last one served me for the past seven years... Still functional but mildly intermittent...
Mga sir, question.
Im needing a windows PC for office work. Not sure if laptop or desktop dapat piliin ko. Last time i bought a computer was 3 yrs ago, and it was a macbook pro. Will be needing the Windows computer primarily for database ,inventory system, and some office work. Minimum requirement lang ng database system is windows 7 OS.
PS, please also suggest what spec dapat kunin koim thinking i3/i5, 8gb ram. Also, ok ba yung mga mini itx?

if it's for database, you'll be better served by desktop pc. choice of processor depends on the type of workload. if your database benefits from TSX get i5-4460. if it's optimized for single thread then core count is meaningless.
in my experience, it's much better to invest in SSD since your computer is gonna spend a lot of time reading through the database.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
^small lang daw yung footprint nung database, so basic computer ok na daw. But i dont mind spending a little more to make the computer future proof. Sorry, whats TSX?

Bro you don't really need an i5 for office work. In fact, my 9-year old PC still works fine with an ancient Core 2 Quad processor and 6GB RAM. I do more than office work as I also run Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro.
A simple i3 desktop should be enough for your needs. 4GB RAM should be sufficient, but you can go for 8GB for future-proofing. Don't forget to get a true-rated PSU to avoid premature failure of your system. Should not cost you more than 20k including a monitor.
Best upgrade I would recommend is to get an SSD for your main drive. An SSD is much, much more responsive than an ordinary hard drive and it has allowed an old system like mine to stay snappy.
If you don't wanna go through the hassle of building a desktop, just get any 25-30k laptop and then upgrade the hard drive to an SSD (around 4.5k for a 256GB SSD). Most entry-level laptops have the same specs (i3 CPU, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, 14.1" screen) anyway.

I suggest dynaquestpc.com . they will assemble whatever specs you need. Their ortigas branch and makati branch have plenty of parking.
I went to pcx and sobrang disappointing wala wala mga good components. I hate pcx lol.
20k budget is plenty for basic use. Dont forget the usb dongle for wifi. Hirap pabalik balik.
alternatively, you can buy a bunch of Intel NUCs and stick 'em at the back of your monitors. that way you have an excuse to buy SSDs
it's amazing how much money you'll save with these damn things. I've been running 7 of these in our drug stores 12 hours everyday for about 3 years and they just work.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
Ok ba yung mga mini itx? Im looking at the NUC as well. Parang better mag desk top since mas maganda mag work with a bigger screen.
Will check dynaquest also. Parang meron yata silang branch in manila if im not mistaken. Baka check ko rin sa HK in January yung mga mini ITX, baka mas mura doon

NUCs are awesome. pair it with 19+" monitors and you're good to go since they natively support HDMI.
they're easy on the electric bill since they hardly crank up any juice.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
