The Athlon X3 can be unlocked as well, and has a higher chance of being a "Phenom X4" than the Athlon X2 because there's just one more core to unlock :P And the price difference of the X2 250 and X3 440 isn't that big anyway. :D

I got those prices from PCHub, also in Gilmore. Those can also be found in PC Gilmore, but from my experience, having bought countless components in Gilmore, PC Gilmore is on the high side of prices. PC Options usually gives the best overall prices. However, what I do now, I buy separate components from different stores, since the extra hundred or so that I save matters, then I just build the PC on my own (though you can get them to assemble it for you, for a fee).

Motherboards with SB710 and SB750 southbridges have that "unlock" feature, or the option to turn ACC on. The AsRock board I suggested, being a 785G chipset, has that feature. Haven't tried the board personally though. The Asus M4A785-M though has it too, and that I've seen personally unlock a 4th core from an Athlon X3. 800 bucks more expensive though

    40k na budget for 4 pc's... so that's 10k each

    could go for 2nd hands

    or

    sempron LE + 1 or 2 GB DDR2 + 80 GB(you don't need much anyway) or 250 GB HDD + any 128 bit video card(GeForce 9xxx or Radeon HD4xxx) + AM3 motherboard

pretty frugal but practical for shop owners...

sidenote: disable Autorun! or use this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/noautorun/
