Bought a Toshiba in 2008; but the motherboard died within a year. Thankfully, it was covered by warranty and they replaced it in a week. No major problems since then. My only issue is the proprietary wireless LAN software which gives me a headache as it sometimes cannot connect to my router.

Had a Lenovo T series for the office. Pretty heavy and loved the keyboard. But the speakers crapped out after a few months and the screen washes out when unplugged from the wall socket.

I've had an HP for work in 2006 and 2010; hated both of them. Crappy keyboard and trackpad. The 2010 one had a really noisy fan that seemed to be hitting something. Took a few weeks to have it fixed.

Bought a Lenovo G series in 2012. Lovely chiclet keyboard. So-so trackpad. No issues with the hardware. Bought it without an OS and installed my personal copy of Windows 7.

Bought an Apple Retina Macbook Pro last year. Probably the most well-put laptop I've handled. Extremely light, beautiful screen, great keyboard (I still rank Lenovo's T series as the best), wonderful trackpad. My only issue is it's mostly un-upgradeable and repairs will be a pain in the wallet.

depende rin siguro kung saan ginawa, in- issue, o binili 'yung pc.

    my computers:
    - Sony 1: VAIO Model SR, Coe 2 Duo pa, from Middle East, company issue 7yrs+ na sa akin never pang pumalya.
bugbog sa gamit ang windows office, gamit ko pa pag TSIKOT.
    averaging open 14hrs / day.

    - Sony 2: VAIO, forget the model na, 'yung "NEON COLORS", from ME, company issue rin,
4yrs+ na rin sa amin, never pang nagka- sakit, gamit naman ni misis sa opis (accounting),
long hours using din, pag nauwi sa pinas, gamitin nila ng anak ko viewing DVDs and games.

    - Sony 3: VAIO FIT 15E, i7, Windows 8, from ME, company issue pa rin,

Pero sa mga Sony units from ME, 7yrs+ never a complain from any Senior Engineers.

I still have my old ASUS A8Fm (2006) with me. The hinge failed 4 times but the hardware inside is really good. Never did it fail even when it was dropped several times.

Recently, bumili ako ng Lenovo Thinkpad Edge (because I thought Thinkpads were tough). After a month, the hard-drive sata connector was pulled off. So much, for Thinkpad durability. :|

For sure the statistics for Asus was correct kasi sakin going 5 years na at di pa nadadala sa repair shop. The durability is somewhat true maybe because Asus make their own hardwares like mother boards, video cards etc. They are not pricey and bang for the buck talaga compared to other brands. Many times ko nang ginawa sa laptop ko na mag-download within 3-4 weeks na walang patayan pero ok pa rin at walang problema. Kaya if I buy a new laptop or desktop, 100% that will be Asus.

My current laptop is a 14" ASUS G46VW. Works great with Win 8.1. It games okay. Great laptop. It replaced my old 2007 15.4" Toshiba Satellite A215-s4757. I still have my old Toshiba as a backup although I use it like a desktop PC. The battery circuits are fried.

    I also have a 10.1" Toshiba Mini NB305-N600 netbook.

I guess my choices are pretty good.
