first video's sound clip of the ever so trusty floppy drive accessing disks send shivers down my spine - lost too many mbs of important data because of faulty floppy and zip drives. good times. good times.
Amigas (and Macs) tended to have "smart" floppy drives. They autodetect inserted floppies much like Windows autodetect usb flash devices. I've lost a few floppies from age or just plain going bad. But most of my Amiga floppies have outlasted the computers they were used for. In fact, I have a number of 720k (880k on the Amiga) floppy disks from the late 80's still in use today.
