This is becoming OT na!
But I would have to respect the views of SEUNG...they are generally true and correct. I also acknowledge his freedom to free speech.
Peace out!
Correct me if this is wrong: ang orig na Photoshop mga P45,000 yata!
Hala, sige. Huli kayo ng huli. Pero hindi naman tinutulungan ang ating mamamayan na ma-afford yung software. In my opinion, our authorities should also spend a lot of effort negotiating with developers on pricing their software to within reach of the general public in third world countries, not just the OS.
well IMO not finding alternative softwares/OS and WHINING about XP being so expensive and justifying the use of pirated OS to earn a living on cafes is what bothers me. again, 4k is not that expensive for the owner's 'peace of mind'.

i downloaded the xandros freeware...gusto ko rin mapag aralan kahit may licensed OS ako...
para doon sa mga walang licensed OS lipat lang sa linux or bili na lang ng lisensya...di na siguro kailangan pang paabutin sa pagtatalo dahil sayang itong informative na thread kapay inilock ng mod...

IMO - as a user of ORIGINAL software - seung has every right to get angry with users of pirated software. just as a legitimate MERALCO customers who can get angry with those who are illegally tapping into the power grid / steal electric cables and such - since they are the ones charged with it.
I think Microsoft is developing the Tagalog-version of Windows so that people cannot export it outside the Philippines. This way, they can sell it at a much more affordable price taking into consideration the inflation rate and Filipino customer's capacity to pay.Originally Posted by pissword
Microsoft could not bring down the price of Windows here in the Philippines because visiting people will just go here and buy it using their dollars/pound and take it back to their own country.
nakalagay naman sa licensed OS ng MS not to be used outside the philippines...Originally Posted by BoyFerrari
Another thing, I don't think using counterfeit Windows gives a rental owner the ability na ibagsak ang presyo ng rental fee. Come to think that if the owner will use 100% open source software, his capital investment would be significantly reduced, thus allowing him to charge even cheaper rates than ever before.Originally Posted by BlueBimmer
So I don't think the pricing of rental fee/per hour is related to whether they use licensed or pirated software. I think it is more related to the electricity costs (aircon for example), and the hardware maintenance costs (crashed hardisk for example). Some shop owners are really pushing the limits of the guerilla-chinese pricing scheme just to attract customers even if they only earn P50 a day.
So we are barking at the wrong tree if we are trying to figure out why some rental shops can afford to offer very cheap rental fee rates. I think the competition is just vicious nowadays since we are already saturated with internet cafes they are almost as common as water purifying stations.
Hi... yung nakapost na 28K for windows pro and MS office.... may alam ba kayo na cheaper??
my bro just called me up naghahanap ng windows kahit anung OS, preferably XP kung magkanu daw... 8K nga ba for the pro version? kelangan kasi inetwork for database purposes kasi ito eh. nasa parang beta testing palang kaya puro pirated OS pa gamit. pero nagkakahulihan daw doon now sabi ko pull out niya muna mga pc niya sa stores. i told him about the 28K package nga un sa other thread...
ask siya meron ba daw kahit mas mura kaunti... kaya may alam ba kayo?
I haven't seen that label. But it won't stop them from bringing it out of the country and use it there - since it is in English, they can find use for it.Originally Posted by chieffy
Imagine if Windows costs only P500 in Greece but all the functions are in Latin. Who would want it? It's even more effective for the Philippines because Tagalog is really confined here. Unlike Chinese or Arabic.
For OEM versions, there's a label for that. We have one at home. The manual is even divided into English & Filipino.Originally Posted by BoyFerrari
Btw, OEM versions are a bit cheaper.
Hehehe. In short, if you can't afford then don't use it all. Very elitist indeed!
My question, are you sure you don't use any Pirated products or any related to piracy? How about the MP3s in your iPods? Crack Symbians softwares in your cellphones?
Hypocrisy at its finest. :D

on the business side, our depot network uses legit windows 2000 and 98SE together, even windows98 is more than enough for us.
i personally am not 100% legit, thats why im looking for alternative Linux OS to slowly stay away from illegal OS. BUT i certainly dont make a PROFIT out of XP or any windows OS. cant say the same for the internet cafes which have 10-40 PCs PROFITING from pirated windows. elitist or not is just a point of view. the fact of the matter is who is really taking advantage of pirated Xps and what legal methods are used in taking them down.

Discontinued na kasi yun. You can rape that OS anyway you want now.Originally Posted by conzky
