Cannot really ride(keep up) with owning these new technologies.

Their prices are way beyond me and our lifestyle. In a couple of years, after mass production, prices would definitely become more affordable.. That's the best time to buy....

unknown brand DVD players are selling at P1600 to P1800 at SM Pasig (besides Tiendesita).

Buying a 30 to 40 inch plasma or lcd TV is still too expensive (although cheaper than a year ago) if you are simply after the high-tech feel. Not to mention, regular cable TV signals look like crap on those screens. I'm getting good milage from my 30 inch regular TV connected to my PC to playback DIVX videos I download from the internet. BattleStar Galactica & Heroes look well, even on my regular tv screen.

for now, pinakasulit kumuha ng 32" samsung slimfit tv, for 59k this tv is jam packed with technology, hdtv ready and high resolution input up to 1080i, HDMI, PiP. watching PC divx movies in 1080i or 720p mode is just breathtaking, leaps and bounds from the normal resolution tvs. perhaps next year lcdtvs and plasma tvs would be worth it.

Oh well paalala ko na lang sa inyo na to be future proof, get a HDCP compliant Player plus a HDCP compliant 1080p TV... syempre alam naman natin na dadaan sa HDMI eto kaya dapat HDCP compliant din ang HDMI port mo...

Sa PC get a HDCP compliant Blu-Ray Drive plus a HDCP compliant video card plus a HDCP compliant Monitor plus Windows Vista 64-bit version which could be the Windows Vista Ultimate....

lalagyan kasi ng copy protection as far as I know....

I'm in no hurry to move up to the new formats, especially considering I'm planning to buy a portable media device. In fact, I'm in the process of converting all my 720x480 DVD recordings/tv recordings/Divx shows to smaller mpeg4 files.

I'll move up to the next gen formats when players drop to ~$100.

    Bump ko lang...

    Blu-ray has currently been enjoying a 3:1 lead over HD-DUD :D

The situation was different noong 2006. HD-DVD launched first, and they took the lead hanggang end of the year.

Pero now...starting from January of this year, Blu-ray launched its offensive and grabbed the lead in that month with tons of new releases and the PS3 leading the offensive in hardware sales.

And a few days after the PAL launch ng PS3, more than 1 million units have been sold and more than 500k copies of Casino Royale (Blu-ray version) were given away for free :D

This looks like the end is nearing for HD-DVD.

free ko din naman nakuha Casino Royale ko, natulog muna ako pag-gising ko available na. burn then kabit ko player ko sa 2 yr old epson projector ko. cinema-like feel

the only thing na nakikita ko useful sa Blu-ray is the capacity 25GB single-layer, 50GB double layer.

More to do with the screen quality than brand. BTW, yung Sony at Samsung 1080P LCDs may diperensya daw.
