    About $1000 for a BD-R these days.

The first BD-burners came in Sony's VAIO AR-series laptops (about July last year). 17" screens, sleek, all-black profile. Pretty cool alternative to the Macbook Pro if you're more into Windows than OSX.

LG is supposedly coming up with a hybrid BD writer/HD-DVD reader. Expect it to cost close to $2000.

Blu Ray vs. HD-DVD isn't VHS vs. Beta. It would be impossible to make a hybrid VHS+Beta machine, while it's relatively trivial to make a Blu Ray+HD-DVD one. Viva the hybrid devices!

    Actually....err.

Blu-ray will triumph over HD-DVD. Blu-ray has the 4:1 lead atm.

    Wala namang magagawa ang HD-DVD.

^yes, it's backward compatible. i guess some people might choose to upgrade their collections though.

chaka abangan natin muna kung sino mananalo dun sa fight-to-the-death between blu ray and hd dvd.... :boxing:

yup, hindi masasayang ang mga current DVD collections since backward compatible naman ang mga Blu-Ray or HD-DVD players.

nasa around P2,000.00 each pa ang mga Blu-Ray movies sa ngayon, P300.00-P900.00 naman ang orig na DVD movie.

Of course, kailangan mo ang TV that can handle a 1080p resolution.

Kunti pa lang ang 1080P tvs. Lahat ng naka labas ngayon puro 768 native resolution na HD. Yung EDTV only 480 native resolution. Blu-ray has almost all the major studios on its side. Only Universal Studio has stuck its gun to release exclusively on HD-DVD.
