No need to go Full HD in a 32" TV. Difference won't be noticeable.
HD Ready means the TV can accept HD signals and output it to its native resolution. You can plug in your HD sources (Blu-ray, PS3, etc.) to a HD Ready TV and watch HD movies or play HD games.

Nope, you will barely see any difference since they are both HD Tv sets.
The reason why the full HDTV is more expensive than the other is because it has a digital tuner built-in while the HD-ready does not.
The built-in tuner is basically to receive and display HD broadcasts.
Since the HD ready TV does not have this built in tuner you will have to subscribe and get a HD set top box from your cable company to enjoy HD broadcasts.
The only problem is, unlike here abroad, the cable companies in the Philippines do not offer HD broadcasting. Even though in the future they might offer this, the number of HD broadcasts will not be enough to really appreciate it. The reason being is that for companies to upgrade from regular to HD broadcasting will be very expensive for them.
So to answer your question that you should stick with the HD-ready Tv is, definitely Yes. They both both are HD capable anyways, so why bother coughing out an additional 7000 pesos for the other one.
The solution to really enjoy your HD Tv is to buy a blu-ray player. And make sure you have that baby hooked up with the 5.1 surround sysytem. Yeah baby

You should just buy Sony Bravia instead of this. Mas maganda yung Bravia engine.
I'm not sure what "HD ready" means but if it's not 720p/1080p capable, then forget about it.
You can enjoy HD if you connect your computer (PC/laptop) to the computer via HDMI or VGA(it usually has VGA or DVI). Or you can buy DVICO 4100SH. It can play mkv container files.
Then you can get HD contents from the internet (there are millions of it). Even TV series now are in HD.
After watching an HD video, you will swear how blurry an original DVD is.

i have no idea what a "HD ready" is or a "full HD". ginogoyo ka ba nung salesman, or is this a different term for something else?
a true HD set can display signals at 1080i. even though some HD signals are in 720p - the HD set can display either 720p or 1080i. some sets can only display 720p - those are the ones you don't want imo.
all HD sets are technically "HD ready"....meaning that you need an HD signal from either over the air HD, a HD cable/satellite feed, or a HD/Blu Ray DVD.

December 7th, 2008 02:19 PM #18The salesman told me that a full HD has 2mp and an HD ready has 1.3mp, basing on the models that I am eyeing on. At first I didn't know what are those since I thought all LCDs are already HD. I tried looking in the net (Samsung, Sony) in yup, there are LCDs that are Full HD and HD ready.
The LA32A550 has 1080p so I am guessing that the LA32A450 has the 720p.

December 7th, 2008 02:26 PM #20I looked at Sony but they are out of my budget. Their 32"s are already 50k+ already. They have a 32 in the S series. It's already 46k+ but it's HD ready only. I think Samsung has the best offer. I just hope it would last long.
Based from what Mguy said, HD ready only displays 720p.
