The 2024 season closes with McLaren winning the constructors' title after a 26-year wait while Max Verstappen wins his 4th consecutive WDC.
Max is now tied with Alain Prost and fellow Red Bull alum Sebastian Vettel. Only the truly great ones are ahead with more than 4 championships: Juan Manuel Fangio (5), Michael Schumacher (7), and Lewis Hamilton (7**).
**Many, myself included, will insist that Verstappen really only won 3 and Hamilton should have had 8 WDC's but that's a debate for another post for another day. 8)
In a season where Verstappen arguably had an inferior car and barely any help from Sergio Perez (who had a forgettable season), Max won by considerable skill, guile, and a lot of sheer will. The Brazilian GP was a statement to Max's talent and showed he is definitely the best driver of his generation.

Sir Lewis Hamilton is finally a Ferrari driver. I am not a tifoso of the Prancing Horse but I certainly am a Lewis Hamilton fan.
Long-time tifosi will probably recognize this house and remember which F1 driver was the only one allowed to live here since Enzo Ferrari himself.

The usual suspects seem just as strong as how they closed 2024. First race of the 2025 season is in Melbourne in mid-March.

March 16th, 2025 04:24 PM #297What a race!
Obviously too much to hope that it's going to be like this all season, but wow. Super sulit everyone who bought tickets.

Mclaren is the team to beat hands down. But it is nice to see Max somehow able to hang-on. Just a few tweak and maybe RB can take the fight to Mclaren.

It was an amazing race to start the season -- lots of action even before lights out! It's a shame that Albert Park wasn't so friendly to all the rookies this year, but that's racing. Ferrari will be thinking of what-might-have-beens as Lewis was caught in a shoulda-woulda-coulda situation. The final laps were also a good battle to watch (and a possible preview of the season).
