And to think Button collided and knocked Alonso out of the race, limped with a front flat back to the pits, changed his car's front nose and came back at the bottom of the grid...
Failed to watch the race. It looks like it was an exciting one!

McLaren Formula One (F1) driver Jenson Button led just one lap - the last one - in a thrilling win at the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix on the Montreal Gil Villeneuve street circuit. For Button it is his first win of the 2011 Formula One season and 10th of his Formula One (F1) career. It is also his first career victory in Canada.
It is also Vettel's ninth victory in the last 11 Grand Prix dating back to 2010 Japanese Grand Prix.
For McLaren, it is their first victory of the season, and 171st in the team's legendary history.
Button said of his day, "It was a really emotional day, I had to fight my way through three times. It was a fantastic race, even if I hadn't won today, I would have enjoyed it immensely."
Red Bull driver and Formula One (F1) championship points leader Sebastian Vettel made just two mistakes all day. The first slide across the grass didn't hurt him, but the second slide landed him back in second.
"It was a very difficult day," said Vettel. "I was too conservative and didn't try to build enough of a lead after the Safety Car, I made a mistake locking up the rears. Its good points, but when you have it in your hands and you give it away its not a good feeling."
Webber finished third saying, "It was hard to pass when you got off the dry line. But in the end, we probably all got the results we deserved today."
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher nearly took his first podium in 26 races since his return, but would settle for fourth. Unfortunately for Schumacher, he didn't have enough car to hold off his pursuers.
Race Recap
With a wet track, the race started after the Safety Car came in on lap 4, during which Red Bull driver Mark Webber spun after contact with 2008 Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton. Webber would lose 10 places before re-grouping.
On Lap 8, Hamilton made contact again... only this time it was his teammate Jenson Button who closed the door which put Hamilton into the wall, damaging his suspension and ending his race.
On Lap 25, the rain began to fall and a rare two-hour plus rain delay ensued. The field had a clean re-start on L35.
On L37 Button continued his exciting day after he punted Ferrari's Fernando Alonso leaving him beached on the far side of the track with Button limping back the full circuit distance back to his pit box. The Safety Car was deployed again for a quick clean-up.
On Lap 51, Michael Schumacher made a fabulous move passing not one, but two cars at the same time as Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi and Ferrari's Felipe Massa fought over second place. Instead, Schumacher took second.
On lap 53, Schumacher dived into the pits and switched to slicks. As Massa continued around the track, he came upon a stricken car, attempted to pass, but when his slicks hit the water, Massa careened into the wall, smashing his nose cone, and front wing.
On lap 57, a Safety Car was deployed again after the Lotus Renault of Nick Heidfeld ran into the rear of Kamui Kobayashi leaving debris all over the track.
When racing returned, the final 10 laps was some of the most thrilling racing of the season as Schumacher attempted to defend his second place position with Webber, and Button sucking his exhaust pipe. Lap-after-lap, Webber would lunge, and miss as he went off on the went line. Finally, Button took advantage, and overtook Schumacher on his first attempt.
Button would then set his sights on the leader Vettel and close within one second with two laps to go. On the final lap, Vettel made his second mistake of the race , slid wide near Turn Eight, and that was all that Button would need to get past and take the checkers in the lead.
Post-race: Button was under investigation as the race ended for contact with Alonso. The stewards could do much to affect this win if they choose.
Mukang maganda nga itong race na to, I am watching the replay later...
Sayang si Schumi, was still in 2nd place five laps to go. Nilamon nila Button at Webber...

Jenson Button has been confirmed as the victor of this year's Canadian Grand Prix, with stewards opting not the penalise the McLaren driver after he tapped Ferrari's Fernando Alonso out of the race at the Turn 3/4 Chicane. Having looked at various video evidence, the panel headed by two-time Formula 1 Champion Emerson Fittipaldi felt that no further action was necessary, allowing Button to keep his win.
The full stewards' report reads:
'The Stewards have reviewed video evidence and heard from the drivers and team representatives regarding the incident on Lap 38 at Turn 3 between Car 5 (F. Alonso) and Car 4 (J. Button.)
Car 5 was on an out lap having pitted. Car 4 appeared to be firmly established on the inside line prior to the entry of the corner and drove onto the kerb to avoid Car 5 on the outside.
In view of the conditions and the statements by both drivers and their team representatives, the Stewards decide that this was a "racing incident" and have taken no further action.'
Awesome race! Sulit ang pagpupuyat ko hehehe. Sana laging wet race, it's more exciting and unpredictable result. Sayang din, kinapos si Schumi, podium na sana, at last![]()
Laki ng lamang ni Vettel. Mukhang kulelat si Lewis, sobrang aggressive kasi...
