    F150...really?

Ferrari’s new Formula 1 car to be called F1501.25.2011

Maranello, 25 January – F150: that’s the name of the new car which will compete in this year’s Formula 1 World Championship and which Ferrari will unveil this coming Friday at Maranello, as part of an event which will be broadcast live on RAI 2 and on Ferrari.com.

The choice of name stems from Ferrari’s desire to pay tribute to this year’s one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Unification of Italy. The placement of the “Tricolore” Italian flag as part of the car livery will therefore have even more significance in 2011.

“Ferrari is an expression of Italian excellence, talent and creativity,” declared President Luca di Montezemolo. “All the men and women who put so much effort and passion into their work at Maranello share the pride and responsibility of representing our country around the world and it is in this spirit that we chose to dedicate this car to an event that is so important for the whole of Italy.”

The news was announced in advance this afternoon, to the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, who expressed his appreciation of the initiative. He also took the opportunity to wish the Scuderia the best of luck for the forthcoming season.

Renault defend Robert Kubica over rally decision

Renault have defended Robert Kubica's decision to participate in a rally so close to the start of the Formula 1 season, which begins on 13 March.

Kubica, 26 had surgery on Sunday after his right hand was partially severed and he suffered arm and leg fractures in a high-speed rally crash in Italy.

"He loves rallying. We knew the risks and so did he," Renault team boss Eric Boullier told Italian news agency Ansa.

"We didn't want a robot or a corporate man for a driver. It was agreed."

Pole Kubica crashed after his car hit a church wall as he approached the start of the Ronde di Andora rally on Sunday morning and it was reported that his Formula 1 career could be at risk as a consequence of the injuries.

The 26-year-old, who finished eighth in the drivers' table last season, was in an induced coma overnight after seven hours of surgery and described as being in a serious but stable condition.

Boullier, who is due to visit Kubica on Monday along with the driver's team-mate Vitaly Petrov, told the BBC on Monday: "When you have a big crash like Robert suffered on Sunday, doctors always predict the worst case scenario.

"Definitely he took seven hours in the surgery room to repair his hand and his arm.

"This morning it was really fine - they needed 24 hours to make sure he recovered completely and it looks like this morning they are all happy.

The operation took place at the Santa Corona hospital near Genoa, where Kubica was airlifted after reportedly being trapped in his car for more than an hour while specialist cutting equipment arrived at the scene of the crash.

Surgeon Mario Igor Rossello said after Sunday's operation that he was "moderately satisfied" and expected the driver to recover "enough functionality for him to resume his activity".

While initial fears he would have to have his hand amputated were cooled, potential recovery time has been put at around 12 months though this is entirely dependant on the limb showing signs that surgery was successful and the coming days will be pivotal to this.

"The hand is warm and this means the operation went well," surgeon Mario Igor Rossello told reporters at the Santa Corona hospital near Genoa.

"We need at least six days to check if the circulation of the blood in the limb responds as it should."

Immediately after the surgery, which required two teams of doctors to work on setting the bones and reattaching veins, tendons and muscles, Rossello said: It was a very complicated procedure and there was the risk he would lose his hand.

Renault are waiting for a more exact prognosis of how it will take for Kubica to recover before they decide who will replace him during his absence.

The former driver for the BMW Sauber team regularly competes in rallies and was driving a week after a successful testing session in the new Renault car in Valencia , ahead of the season's opening grand prix in Bahrain.

He had been due to lead the Renault team alongside Russian Petrov, who has a long-term contract after signing for the 2011 and 2012 season during the winter.

    wow astig!

yung ferrari parang simple lang, parang walang pinagbago... pero sabi ni costa eh magbabago parin raw bago mag bahrain grand prix pero siguro minimal lang... i was hoping and expecting na mas innovative as in me iintroduced na kakaiba ang ferrari compare sa mga kalaban nila pero i was left diss appointed jan sa bagong car nila... sana nalang sa performance eh okay pag race day na...

dun ke kubica eh sayang, sayang talaga... me time dun sa unang test na sya yung nag top sa fastest time... hopefully maka recover sya at makapag karera pa sa F1...

Ferrari sana manalo ng constructors at si alonso ang sa drivers... pero parang mahihirapan sila gaya ng last year... but i can only hope na maging dominant sila dis coming season

F1 officially starts on March 27...tagal naman.

    Official: Bahrain Grand Prix postponed

Officials at the Sakhir International Circuit have announced that the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix has been cancelled as a result of the current political unrest in the country. With the statement having come from the country’s Royal family, the final pre-season Formula 1 test session has also been called off. The 2011 season will now begin two weeks later, in Australia on 27 March.

Talk of Bahrain has very much overshadowed the last four days’ of testing in Barcelona, with the majority of drivers having expressed their fears for the event and Formula 1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone having placed its destiny in the hands of the Royal family.

‘Bahrain International Circuit announces Bahrain’s withdrawal from the first race of the F1 season,’ reads the track’s official Twitter feed. ‘HRH Crown Prince informed Formula One’s Bernie Ecclestone of the BIC’s decision by telephone earlier today.’

“We felt it was important for the country to focus on immediate issues of national interest,” the Crown Prince commented.” The statement continued: ‘At the present time the country’s entire attention is focused on building a new national dialogue for Bahrain.’

It is likely that the race will be placed further down the calendar, possibly becoming Round 18 between India and Abu Dhabi. Today's news marks the first date change for a Grand Prix since Belgium 1985, when the Spa track surface was breaking up.
