Meron bang significant?

And I was at EDSA1. We were the greatest and most popular nation/people then. If you're out of the country,- you're a hero to everyone!
But we blew this advantage (again) big time. So, starting from Marcos, I have yet to see a president who is worth to be called a real leader for our country.... Sayang! Sayang! Sayang!![]()

Peso/$ rate went from P21 to P3? in the few years I was over there
Everyone got fed with "Bagong Lipunan" propaganda ad nauseum. Reading newspapers were like reading Pravda, sort of. Each year brought news of economic growth/record crop season.
His goons were everywhere, esp the PC in Cavite. Well, some of them, anyway. My cousins learned not to piss them off or else they just disappear in the middle of the night and end up "salvaged" in some canal or rice field.

I didn't arrive in the Philippines until the Peso/$ was 21:1. My sister also went to UP Diliman. She wisely kept a low profile. But, both she and my mom have a deep hatred for Marcos.
Speaking of salvages....... I remember one time I was spending the night at my cousin's house in Binakayan, Cavite. Around 2am, we were awakened by a series of M-16 and shotgun blasts. The next morning, a 16-year old HS student was found dead near Covelandia (back then) riddled with bullets and his face blown away by a shotgun blast. The local cops said he was a "durugista". All of us knew better. But, we kept our silence......
