Only major disadvantage is the phone will get very hot when driving under a lot of sunlight, as it's placed at the dash area.
My wife doesn't even need to take her smartphone out of her bag, er purse. All incoming audio is routed through the car sound system. There must be a mic somewhere because I can talk and the caller at the other side can hear me.

If it's just us guys, we'd settle for whatever the dealer gives us. But, my wife knows how to haggle and turn on the charm (she's still a looker).

She got almost all of the Rogue SL's options (including the top nav/console option) for the price of a Rogue SV which is way down on the options scale.

    Edit:

We bought her Rogue back in NY and that state have very strict phone/texting laws. A cop can ticket you if you as much as look down (for an extended period) even while at a stoplight. Here in Arizona, it's kinda like the PH. There are no phone/texting laws yet, I think.

Pero for me,- such "phone discussion",- even if hands-free is a distraction while driving...

however else the cellphone is used, it still distracts the user from driving concentration.
the only solution i can think of, is that driver makes a stop at the side of the road to handle that cellphone.
i can imagine it now... half the cars on the road will be parked at the side...

btw... i was sideswiped once, when i stopped at the side of the road to make a call. by a driver delivering a brand new vehicle to the showroom. my condolences to the buyer of that vehicle...

If you have noisy kids for passengers, distraction din yun.

What's the big /major difference with hands-free calls then?

How would enforcers know na meron ka kausap? Eh kung napapasabay lang sa music? [emoji23]

Simply, show them your "call" history on the phone

I'll never show anything on my phone to enforcers or police for that matter unless they can secure court order.

So they still should prove that driver is indeed speaking with someone on the phone rather than just singing along sa music. [emoji16]

It's hard to enforce plus dark tints pa.

I don't understand why people need a law to keep them from using their phones while driving.

Bluetooth connectivity, Waze, etc were made with the objective of keeping your focus on the road.

Bluetooth calling is still more distracting than a simple conversation with a passenger, because you're expected to reply instantaneously as opposed to a face-to-face conversation where lulls are more common, especially if the lull is because the driver had to focus on his main task - driving.

That said, I still believe that handsfree calls have mitigated the risk enough to make it plausible to take a phone call while driving, though I still think that if the call isn't urgent, just delay it until you're done driving.

Because everyone thinks they are one of the few intellectually and physically superior individuals who has mastered the art of multitasking.

Problem is, there is no such thing.

Kelangan ng batas cause everyone's a smart aleck. And technically, he's correct.

I think wala pa rin nakaisip nito...

If we follow the logic of this bill (di pa sya batas AFAIK)... bawal na rin ang mga jeepney drivers na walang assistant para kumuha at manukli ng bayad.

I'm not against this bill. Pero sana maliwanag ang IRR (Implementing Rules and Regulations) for this.

The senate bill says as long as you are not holding your phone, then you are ok. Hand-free, bluetooth headsets are allowed. Not sure how they are going to merge this with MMDA's no-contact policy.

    the bill is defective.
when you use the phone, however you put it, you still have to distract yourself from the road ahead.
... less distracting? ... does that mean, the damage in the fender bender is only 50% ..?
or is it... you get 50% less accidents..?
