This happens every year. Increased demand coz of Holy Week = price increase.

Of course I might be wrong and this is a correlation vs causation thing, but aside from 2020 when we went into lockdown the end of March to start of April period where Holy Week falls has generally seen a slight price increase in gasoline going back the last few years. I understand your point though that Philippine demand is probably too small to be a major factor here. I think were are less than half a percent of the world market.



And this is from an analysis report done by the Philippine Commission on Competition on gas prices as reported to DOE. You can see that at the boundary of March-April it's an increase.



I noticed the DOE website has started publishing their own Oil Price monitoring including their analysis of what is causing the price adjustments, so let's see what they have to say in the next few weeks.

Notice sa graph mo na downward lagi local prices during December when world demand during this time should be higher due to northern winter?

Most manufacturing shuts down production during this month, so baka effect eto ng lower demand for fuel. Also, traditionally, forex during this period is affected by christmas remittances of OFWs.
