i think dollar weakness is also a factor

the Fed will allow inflation to rise

    gold and silver are rallying

    stocks are rallying

stocks and commodities are inflation hedges

    we're seeing inflation hedging

Nakakainis talaga media, causing unnecessary panic.

All price increases for the past year have always been on a Tuesday.

Price drop naman, anytime from Sunday-Tuesday.

Haven't heard of a price increase on a Friday.

U.S. Ruling Loosens Four-Decade Ban On Oil Exports - WSJ
The Obama administration cleared the way for the first exports of unrefined American oil in nearly four decades, allowing energy companies to start chipping away at the longtime ban on selling U.S. oil abroad.

In separate rulings that haven't been announced, the Commerce Department gave Pioneer Natural Resources Co. and Enterprise Products Partners LP permission to ship a type of ultralight oil known as condensate to foreign buyers. The buyers could turn the oil into gasoline, jet fuel and diesel.

The cartel is using this excuse but for heavens sake, was it not there was decades of oil embargo on Iraq during Saddam's time yet the price is not even at this level. So what the fack is Iraq eh pwede naman walang Iraq oil sa market. Itong OPEC ang dahilan as they manipulate the market and they can come-up with any reason just to increase prices.

Perceived potential supply problems = buyers willing to buy at higher prices to hoard available supply = increased demand = higher prices

It doesn't matter if the problem just persists in Iraq, obviously if I'm a seller from Saudi, and I find out oil from Iraq is selling 20% higher, I'd try to sell higher too.

Imagine if you're a Spam lover and heard news that Spam will no longer be produced in a few months. Won't you buy lots more Spam today, even if they increased the prices? You'd stockpile Spam to ensure you have enough stock for yourself. Then you'd buy even more so you can sell them at an even higher profit when current supply runs dry and you're the only seller. All these based on just news, not yet actual events. The market is driven by perception.

Now replace Spam with sweet crude.

Industry sources on Sunday warned the public of a possible oil price increase this week as tension in Iraq continues.

Quoting industry sources, GMA News "24 Oras" reported that gasoline and diesel prices this week would hike by at least P0.60 per liter and P0.25 per liter, respectively.

    it's called panic buying..
the haves are panicking and buying everything in site, at spot market prices, driving prices up..
the havenots are forced to buy also, and at the same inflated prices..

it's an old rule in the economics book.. supply and demand.

the solution is not to buy at inflated price. but no country in the world will gamble their economy on that.
