MANILA, Philippines -- At least six junior officers have been either relieved from their posts or reassigned since last week for allegedly recruiting fellow soldiers for a fresh plot to topple the government,
Armed Forces Chief Hermogenes Esperon Jr. said Friday.
Esperon refused to give the identities of the field officers. He said the military was looking into the possible involvement of civilians and politicians in the alleged recruitment activities.
He said the recruitment has so far been unsuccessful since the military has not monitored any unauthorized troop movement.
