To be honest I take this as a compliment...why? Because look around you, more Filipinos are dishonest and lacks the proper training to obey the law. They lack discipline. A simple instruction, not to throw garbage on the street and you can't educate them enough to follow. They're not going to learn that in a few years. What we really need now is an iron hand of Martial Law (with the proper leader in place) to produce immediate effects. Filipinos won't change for the better, it's just going to get worst. Sad but true.

Remember the soldiers involved in Abu Sayyaf operations lately, complain of lack of ammunition? Naibenta or nabili na pala lahat ng Ampatuan yung supply ng DND........

And also. how come they were able to "purchase" those anti-tank recoilless and 50 cal. sniper rifles?

YES! What annoys me most is the pictures from previous posters with her taking holy communion...if I was the priest...I would have REFUSED to give her one on camera just to make my point. Anyway they keep meddling with government affairs...as if they were not educated about the separation of state and government.

I used to be involved in the arms trade industry long time ago and I'm not really surprised if the ampatuans amassed that much weapon with the DND name. With my experience in the industry, you would be surprised who's selling those high end rifles.....

You can get an m203 grenade launcher for about 6k, an m4a1 for 25k.

About the martial law, i think this is the result of a threat to GMA, maybe the Ampatuans threatened her by releasing to the media all they know with all the evidences that they buried?

GMA needed an excuse to seize the evidences and silence the ampatuan clan members ASAP. Lets just hope that the Martial Law does not spread all over the country. Suspension of writ of habeas corpus is not really funny at all.....

At least the MILF isn't making a big deal out of the martial rule. It's the people in Manila who are making more noise than the people directly affected by it in Maguidanao.

What worries me is when this reaches the Supreme Court, the SC might rule that the declaration of martial law in Maguindanao is invalid and all the evidence gathered against the Ampatuans could be considered inadmissible in court. In the end the Ampatuans go free.

I'm not a lawyer so I hope that I'm wrong.

MANILA, Philippines—Rebel forces loyal to the powerful Muslim clan of Ampatuan whose stronghold is under martial law in the southern province of Maguindanao have engaged troops in clashes, a senior government official said Monday.

"There have been shooting incidents between these groups and the Philippine National Police," Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno told reporters.

"They have engaged in actual firefights with some of the uniformed services," he said.

National police chief Director General Jesus Verzosa said the latest firefight occurred Sunday evening in Datu Unsay municipality.

There were no immediate reports of any casualties on either side.

The town's mayor, Andal Ampatuan Jr., was last week jailed and charged with 25 counts of murder for the political massacre of 57 people on November 23, including members of a rival clan and 30 journalists.

His father Andal Ampatuan Sr. was taken into custody Saturday along with four other clan members a day after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo imposed martial law in the province they have ruled for the past decade.

The government said it was forced to impose martial law after followers of the group threatened to attack if leaders were arrested.

The military earlier Monday said it was hunting down over 3,000 armed followers of the Ampatuans who had fled before martial law was declared.

There wouldn't have been any need for Martial Law if only...

... doctors administered lethal injections when Jr. & Sr. Amputa had their medical check-ups...

... on 2nd thought, arrest all the clan plotters 1st, then under the pretext of medical check up, administer lethal injections. "Pang swine flu lang po, kasi magkamukha naman kayo..."

The Supreme Court is NOT A TRIER OF FACTS. So, it cannot rule upon the evidence gathered insofar as the murder case versus the Ampatuans.

You're right, however, in that the SC can pass upon the factual basis which led the President to impose martial law. I'm just expressing an opinion, but, even assuming that the SC holds that the imposition of martial law as invalid, it does not automatically invalidate official acts which were done during the time it was imposed i.e. gathering of evidence. Constitutional Law experts, kindly enlighten us.
